RASH

Last Friday I thought I was coming down with a cold. Ds had had one and so figured that was why I was not feeling well. Did get some flu cold like symptoms but on Saturday afternoon I began to get a rash on my stomach. Was not real itchy but by Sunday morning it was speading up to my chest area and some on the inner part of my upper arms. Called the Dr office on Monday they said they would call me back. Didn't hear from them until this morning. Seems to be an allergic reaction to something and now resembles having a sunburn which is also now on my nose and cheeks. The rash is very fine. So Dr said to take Zyrtec for two weeks and see if that helps it go away. I feel ok just a bit itchy and scratchy. I have not changed any thing that I normally use on my skin or clothes. Have no food allergies that I know of so guess will just have to see if the Zyrtec works. Dr did say if not better in one week to give him a call or if other symptoms show up.
Took the first one this afternoon so we shall see.

That seems weird, Mare...what do you suspect it was an allergic reaction to, exactly? Something you ate or took? Had you taken something for your cold?
If I didn't know how "young" you are, it would sound like Fifth's Disease or a light measles case or something.

Oh my gosh.Another red skin! Have you figured out what you are allergic to?
My skin is red as well.Looks like I have a light sunburn.
I can relate to the itchies too.But that's for a new post
HI Red
I had taken Niquil for the cold but have taken it before and no problems. Other than that I have no idea what the heck caused it. Today it is a bit better so must be working. So will just take the Zyrtec and hope it goes away.

Hi Gabby
That is what I tried first is benedryl didn't seem to touch this at all. The rash is better today so must be working.

Hi Doreen
Have no idea what caused this allergic reaction at all. The Dr said that sometimes the body will just have a reaction to something that it has not had before. The medication seems to be working the rash is not itchy today at all and fading.
I do have some allergies to some things that I have had since childhood but this was not caused by any of those I don't think.
Hope yours is getting better if not check with your Dr.
HUGS
Well, I am glad it was not more serious than an allergic reaction..my first thought was shingles
been there ,done that!
but once I saw it was not localized, I knew it wasn't
hope the meds help and you are better soon
both dgds are at the doctors now
hope our trip to NYC,is not called off!

HI Dutch
Nope not the shingles, I knew that right away it was much to fine of a rash and couldn't be the measles as I had those when I was a kid. The Zyrtec seems to be doing the trick but the cold is back and so feeling not to great right now. A cold I can handle an itchy rash drives you nuts LOL
