weird wild wacky week

man, where do I begin?

how about yesterday? took dd to urgent care..for her back...in pain...started over the summer..she got meds and PT..it was getting better then ins co. said "no more PT"....now we are back to square one..she has to call for an MRI this week and then call a neurologist

we also attended dgd,4, "Got Well Soon Party"..which she organized..to celebrate her recovery from a stomach bug Tues-Wed...I was in charge of the cake!

that bug had us wondering if we would make it to NYC Thurs ,,we had tickets for Radio City's Christmas Spectacular

Wed I even bought ticket insurance!

We didn't know until Thurs at 7 am that we were a "go"..and had a great day: me and Bob, ds and dgd

she loves the city..wanted to go to Toys r us in Times Square to go on the Ferris wheel which we did

she told us she loved the show and thanked us

earlier in the week I was called by a former student to tutor her husband in English for his job..he is from Argentina..they belong to an ultra conservative Christian church...women wear long sleeves/long skirts...they said they could not come into my house because I have been divorced!!! can you believe it??

so we arranged to meet next Mon at McDonalds...his boss called Tues...sort of to interview me..but when he heard McDonalds  he said "that is not going to happen"..we discussed my going there Mon to the place of business....he was supposed to call Wed but never did..so I guess it is off....perhaps he didn't like my fees either!!

it was getting too complicated..any way now I am watching dgd,2, and picking dgd,4, up at school

and Friday I subbed

today I thought I would rest and catch up on crafts...I had some iron ons I made for shirts for the dgds..WELL...I ironed..they didn't stick! aaarrrgghh so frustrating

oh well..just venting..

hugs

That tutoring did sound complicated, probably better it didn't work out.

A "get well soon party", how fun is that!!

I have to admire the way my dgd 4 thinks...and not just because she is my dgd

when she was so sick on Tues with the stomach bug she asked her mom if they could have a party when she was better...she was already thinking ahead to something good after the "bad"

in the car Thurs she told me her plans..she put me in charge of the cake...her mom called later, laughing, "WHAT did you two plan?" (she calls us Thelma and Louise) I said it wasn't me!

this kid is already the Queen of "delayed gratification"...which will help her in life

she also figured out the seating in the theater , her between me and Bob, my son on my other side

clever!

kids amaze me

Hi Dutch

I like that a Get Well Soon party. Maybe I should have done that after being sick for a week. LOL Your little dgd #1 is such an adorable child.

Glad you got to go to NYC and enjoy the Christmas Show at Radio City. Fun for everyone I am sure.

Sure hope your Dd can get her back straighten up. When your back hurts it is just so hard to get anything done. Having had two back surgeries I know how much a hurting back causes pain.

Wonder why the iron ons didn't work. Oh well will have to try them again huh?

Have a good Monday.

Love ya

GO for your own "Got Well Soon PArty"!!

glad you enjoy dgd #1 too..I love sharing her antics and "joie d'vivre"..and not just becasue I am the grandma..she is a riot

I have dgd #2 here now..we were out earlier when a police came up behind us, sirens blaring/lights flashing..so I pulled over..I said to her "You have to pull over when the police man is in a hurry " and she said "Bad guy"!! LOL..she's TWO!

well, looks like I will try that tutoring job....they called today..so we will try Tues/Thurs 5-7..the $$ is good, we'll see...

I don't know if I want to try the iron on s again...dil says it is hit or miss with them, they work or they don't

dd called: MRI tomorrow..hope it is pinched nerve not slipped disc...I had disc surgery on my neck, Bob has had 3 on his lower back

well, leaving soon to get dgd #1

We took my two youngest to NYC just driving around. The kids spent their time standing on the backseat for a birds eye veiw. Two little heads sticking out of a skylight.

We drove threw Leona Helmsies place. There's a road underneath her home. It's a BIG place.

thanks for good wishes on dd..I'll tell her

yesterday we went with her for MRI, seeing neurologist Dec 12 , same day I leave for Disneyworld

I DID end up tutoring that guy! The boss called Mon...they are all very nice , boss and I both a little weirded out by guy's religious restrictions (no denim? can't ride in car with someone wearing denim?)

the $$ is good

yes, I am pretty tolerant/understanding..but I looked this up online and it borders on "cult"

dgd ,4, is STILL thanking us for NYC

hope all is well in your neck of the woods

hugs

We used to celebrate the kids' with "Happy Unbirthday Parties" so that my dd who's birthday was the first day of school could party after she knew kids and my ds's birthday that usually fell during Christmas break could have more fun too. So on their 6 month birthdays we had the big parties that all of their friends thought were odd but they came.

Your dgd must think like me a bit too. lol When I've been sick I used to want a McDonald's cheeseburger the day I felt like I'd live. No fries or soda and not a big one just the old 25 cent ones or that's what they were when I was in high school. I saw a study that showed that girls are much better at the delayed gratification bit than boys are but then I also know it meant that for years I waited my turn while my dh took first dibs until I stood up and yelled, "Hey wait a minute! When is my turn?" The answer was it wasn't gonna be my turn until I took it. lol That's when we began traveling since before that he'd charge stuff and then tell me we had no money for trips. So I told him I was either going to have a trip fund that we put money into each month or I would ch-ch-charge it! lol Speaking of that....I need to send you a few sentences and questions for our February trip. We're going to stay at an all inclusive resort in Cozumel and I'll get to see Mayan ruins and also snorkel the best reef in the northern hemisphere. Very bucket listy.

I wish my grands were closer. I mailed out their Christmas yesterday with everybody's birthday cards since they're all in Dec or Jan. I bought the soon to be 6 yo her first Barbie. Took quite a time deciding on which kind. Finally settled on one who had a momma dog and puppies. lol Talked on my cell while in Target's toy dept with my dil to decide. We also bought her some American girl dolls and books for when she is older. They reminded me of my old Besty McCall dolls since they're about 8 inch pocket sized. I got them home and realized they were labeld for age 8+. So grandma's closet of goodies is fuller.

I hope to make it to NYC this next year. I haven't been there since I was 14. I think it could be fun to take my 16 yo gs
