Merry Christmas - checking in...

Coming into the final week & I almost feel like we may be ready.

Finished my two big papers last week after I took the math final & grades posted this week showed 3 "A's". Except for the niggling fact that it's probably the last opportunity for me to get the rest of this years loan $$ (have to take at least 2 Masters level classes to be considered half-time to qualify) I'm seriously thinking I'm done w/coursework for now... Tho that money would cover the rest of the classes I'll need to eventually finish the program when I choose to-one class at a time, then I could look at the possibility of having it all forgiven after 5 years teaching math here... None of the MAT courses I want to take are available this semester, only the philosophy and psychology of education courses for my program - & I'm just really not that interested in more education courses of that nature to put in the time right now.

Anyway, hung my outside house lights (slowly), put up my tree (at least as far as the lights), and Xmas decorations in the house, and finally placed orders for the stuff that has to be shipped out of state - and it looks like only 2 are backordered into January and rest may even make it by Xmas. Went out & bought DH a treadmill - actually us, cuz I know I could sure use it too after all the sitting I've been doing this year. And, we got our cards & letters mailed before the todays Xmas deadline...:) The plan is to drive over to D33's house for Xmas Eve & day as we've done for the past few years since G'babies were born. Of course I'm just really jazzed about driving the I-40 again (NOT!?!), but with gifts & the 2 boys there really isn't much of an alternative. Either of the boys could drive, but I honestly don't think that would make me feel better about it. We'll just keep an eye on the weather, and DH's schedule - it could possibly work out that he can go with us rather drive separately. But his schedule defies the imagination since there isn't one and the weather is just as weird here as elsewhere. D just sent pix of them all playing in the snow that fell Wednesday - settled to over a foot the day after.

It's been an off month w/my back & neck and I haven't worked since before our vacation the 1st of November. The pain mgmt np has done a couple of the trigger point injections & I've had massage therapy every week - one more of each to go, then we'll see what's next on the agenda. We stopped the Ultram pretty quickly (it did not work for me), & now she's trying Cymbalta, so that's better. She was concerned enough about what was going on in my neck to finally order an MRI, which thankfully basically came back w/decent news. No disc or spin problems other than generalized degenerative changes, tho I do have a couple bone spurs and straightening of the curve in my neck which wasn't caused by the accident - but probably aggravated with the myofascial stuff that's going on. And they noted incidentally a thyroid mass - which I'm sure is a cyst, but now an ultrasound scheduled for Monday to check it out. The NP is going to have the doc check out my back next visit because of the way my right upper back has physically altered as a result of overcompensating for the injury inflicted by my ex over 30 yrs ago that really never got treated - and which is why I'm that much more concerned about anything from this accident being treated now, so everything doesn't get thrown even more out of whack if it isn't necessary for lack of treatment or doing the right things now... That was a "relatively" minor injury of being bounced into the corner of a dresser - and I was really never made aware that there was a "problem" resulting from that until my D took me for a massage before her wedding in 2000 & her masseuse commented about how my upper back was noticeably altered. Anyway it appears that at this point my back is already doing what it can to compensate for the pain and muscle tightness - shoulder & neck pulling forward and/or down or up, sitting lopsided stressing my lower back & stomach muscles, etc... Wonderful!

The lawyers office finally found the insurance company for the trucking company tho I guess the driver quit, and is basically waiting for a prognosis on me to proceed with a claim. They want me to go to LA & see their specialist at this point in case this needs to go to court & they're ready to have a sit down with me.

Life goes on, I finally turned on the house heater yesterday - tho have been sitting in front of the fireplace pretty regularly since Thanksgiving. My office iin the back of the house stays a bit cooler and I am now tutoring the 13yo g'son of another long time school employee 3 times/week, which is starting out nicely. Hes staying w/them temporarily and being homeschooled to keep up & she just called me out of the blue when she remembered I'm not working f/t & understand jr hi math - works for me~!!

Well, since my boys have not started their shopping I guess I should get them into town and get that taken care of since the day is already half shot. Will try to actually post more often, now that school stuff is done.

Merry Christmas all!

Hi Jo

Merry Christmas!!

Well the problems with your back and other things since the accident seem to be moving along. Cannot say I blame you for not wanting to travel on I-40 again however I guess maybe that is a problem that should probably be faced and then maybe put behind you. Easier said that done I know.

We have not had our heat on here until today. Our Dgs will be here this evening and the house is a bit on the cool side. So we decided to turn the heat on so he will be a bit warmer at night.

Take special care and enjoy your weekend.
