Thats right, one more time with Christmas this Saturday and then up goes everything till next year.
Hi all and Happy New Year...I have been reading posts but not posting to them (as usual), shame on me. Our first son and his family always go to AR (dil's parents) for Christmas so we have another family one when they get back. We usually have it at one of the other kids house but this year I have prettied things up and will host it ourselves. We will do presents and then heavy munchies for lunch. I took the easy way out and not cooking a thing, all bought. They have such interesting munchies already frozen.
Christmas was a good time here with the all of the family get together at Mom's Christmas Eve. Then to Bec's Christmas Day. I like having 3 Christmases every year, its like the gift that keeps on giving, lol. On a down note, Mom fell Christmas Eve and was very sore for a few days but nothing broken. It did keep her from going with us Christmas Day. Several of the family went by to see her.
My mom is 91 yrs old and using a walker to get around everywhere. She is slowing down and not doing as much as she used to but my older sis & I still do her running for her. She is still living alone and hopes to be doing that for a long time. She & I set up one of those alarm systems where you wear a button that calls for help. I finally convinced her to get it and am sure she will use it. She has fallen 4 times in 08 and thats too many times. It doesn't take much, a turn too sharply or stepping out of some piece of clothing& trip. All & all, her heart and mind are strong and thats great.
Over Christmas I had a sinus infection and now Bill has a cold and I am trying not to get it, but loosing my battle I am afraid. I don't feel as bad as Bill does but by Saturday we should be much better. I have my mammogram and bone density test next month. At the end of this month I have my last visit with the headache study guys and keep track for one more month after that. Then it's over. I will be keeping the stimulator since it is doing some good. I am taking one less headache med and it seems to be better, not as severe of a headache but still at least once a day. Was it worth it, YES it was and will still be worth it after.
No new years resolutions here except to get back on the bike. I like Jan's idea of having goals instead. When we had the weight loss contest in our family, for money, I actually lost a lot more than any one else, but my sister won the contest, she was sick and didn't eat much that last week. Oh well, disappointed, yes, very, angry I didn't win, no. We turned around and started another contest from Sept to Thanksgiving and the two who lost the most would be taken out to supper by the others in the contest. I won that one. I am feeling very good about my weight loss and hope to keep it up, thats why I have to get back on the bike.
Even for us, this weather is crazy...cold (for here) one day, then open windows the next. Right now the windows are open. Tomorrow we are to have it real windy. Bill and sons will be cutting down a smallish tree that has died, this weekend. We will be planting another to take its place in the spring, I just love to plant trees.
Enough said... everyone be happy and safe this year. Love and

Hi Gabby...The alarm system we got Mom is Alert One. They have different payment plans, monthly and yearly, which is the one she did. Along with it she got a lock box for out front, for a key,
Hi Free
I was just thinking about you yesterday wondering how things were going for you.
I am sorry to hear your Mom fell but very glad she is only sore. Broken bones at her age are very slow to heal and seem to lead to some very hard times. Seems for her age she is doing very well. I am glad you got her the alarm button I am sure that gives you and the rest of your family some peace of mind.
I do miss the large family gatherings at Christmas time. I have some very fond memories of all the family getting together. We have Dh brother here close to where we live but my db's all live back in the midwest so don't get to see them too often.
So your headache study has been some help for you and that is definately a good thing. I am glad you went through it and I hope it continues to help keep those headaches in better control.
Enjoy your Christmas with your DS and his family.
Love ya
Free sounds like a great Christmas for you, glad it all went so well.
Gabby for my mom I got her Life Alert and can't remember the monthly fee but I'm sure its gone up by now anyway. It was a huge relief just knowing if anything happened she could call out and they would hear her on the monitor and send help. Then again when mom fell the last time she had taken the alert pendant off and could not reach it. My mom never listened to anything anyone told her...wonder where I got it from...hmmm. I figured the amount I paid for it was worth the peace of mind...for most people who have compliant parents:)
Free having three Christmases is a perfect way to celerate. Why have one when three keeps the season going strong:) Sorry to hear about your mom but glad she wasn't hurt.
The other day I was researching information for migraine headaches for Allie's aunt. She has such blinding headaches she passed out in the dr's office and hit her head requiring four stitches. I came upon a remedy called Hepar Sulphur which seems to fit her symptoms and might help you as well. If you are game it couldn't hurt and am prescribing a 30C potency for her. If you want to try it please do and let me know how it goes.
