Hello everyone, I was reading some of your discussions and this seems like my kinda site. I got my first computer for valentines day. Don't know alot about them but I can one finger type lol. I'm in my mid 50's and was raised by a wonderful aunt, love remodeling my house, my four children, and 9 grandchildren. Oh yeah, and my other half. He works all the time so I'm alone in the house alot. So I remodel as a hobby. Well anyway I like what I see here. Hugs Cindy

Hi Cindy, welcome. I'm Jan from the Chicago area. I don't get here as often as I'd like, but do try to at least read the board every day. I don't have any kids, so no grands. I'm into knitting, gardening, genealogy and enjoy reading.

I'm glad you found us!

Hi Dutch, Nice to meet you. I've looked everywhere for free courses. Colleges are to far away.

Tried the AARP site and found some in California lol. Red and everyone has really been helping me here.

I start chat with them tomorrow. Alot of typos and backspacing but I'll try to keep up with the conversation.

Hi, Cindy

I will be at chat sometime but today I am subbing.

We live outside of town now, from our house we can see a lake...it is part of a town park. but we are still close to shopping

Even when I lived in the village it was still like we were out of town, we had 5 acres and a view

I grew up on Long Island so it was quite a change.

We enjoy time with the grandkids too , in fact we had the 4 yr old sleepover Mon/Tues and the 2yr old and 1 yr old on Thurs/Fri

we know the Finger Lakes area and have stayed at Watkins Glen

DH went to SUNY Cortland

well,time to get ready

hugs

I worked at Watkins Glen Walmart for 3 and a half years. I really wish I knew Spanish when I worked there.

thank you ,cindy!

I like to feel I am doing something worthwhile..and I know I can count among my former students doctors and nurses who use Spanish, teachers inc Spanish teachers, even one gal working for the US State Dept at Embassies in different countries...

recently I tutored a man from Argentina in English

funny thing about Chinese: last week we were at a family gathering, spoke to a cousin's son who is a senior in college

dh asked him what he was studying, he said "Math and chinese" dh said "oh, good, 2 things no one understands! " LOL

yesterday when I was subbing I met 2 students who recently came from China!
