Hi everyone. I went to facebook last night and it had all these sites I could go to where people were complaining the wrong people getting into their facebook page and how to get out of facebook for good. I was afraid to click on anything. I'm afraid I'm going to bud into someones page because I don't know what I'm doing on this computer yet. There's so many different site that tell you to connect to someone including Yahoo mail I just don't.
Now in Yahoo mail They put in a couple of the names of the people I chat with in messenger and want me to connect. Does that mean I'm going to get into their website or photos or something they may not want. Does it mean I'm connecting an open line like talking on the phone.
I have not connected to anyone except messenger when we join in to chat at 11am.
I'm still fearful of the computer and am trying to find a windows vista home edition for dummies book but I need an updated version that tells me about the newer software.
If you suddenly see me as wanting to be invited to your site or wanting to contact you please note I don't know what I'm doing and dear hubby knows less so we may just hit a wrong key. Still learning the keyboard too.
See ya in chat, Hugs Cindy

Hi Cindy
I am new to facebook as well but no one can get onto your personal page without becoming a friend to you and like yahoo they have to invite you to join them and you have to accept. I don't use yahoo email so have no idea what that is about but probably just from your list of friends on yahoo and just means you can use the yahoo address for email if you want to.
Computers can be confusing at times so you just have to keep working on them and you will figure out how to go places and where not to go. If you feel you are not comfortable with a website don't go there. Or maybe a friend can help you find your way around a website like Facebook. I am still learning about the different things you can do on facebook myself.
I don't have windows vista my computer so cannot help you there.
You will find you way around the internet it just takes practice.
HUGS
Thanks for the quick reply. My dd needed my help this morn. so I missed chat. On Yahoo they have the yahoo plus mail and my dh clicked on it and it wanted me to invite a couple people from chat and send them an email. It says that way we can share files and everything so I just told him to back out of it.
When I got messenger I ended up with the yahoo toolbar as well as email. Don't even know how I did it but I use it for my directtv gameroom account and things like that. My personal mail stays in my normal account.
I'm just afraid of connecting to someone who doesn't want to be connected. I just back out of it and use the regular mail for now until I can figure all this out. I'll get my dgd here. She'll know she's 15 and has been using comp. for years.
See you in chat Mon. Hugs Cindy
HI Cindi
The yahoo mail and acutally as far as I know most email accounts you can share pictures and anyfile you want to but it doesn't mean that by using the account that you are sharing anything you don't want to. You got the yahoo tool bar when you signed up for yahoo messanger and downloaded it. There is a place where you can decide if you want it or not. If you don't say you don't want it will download on your computer. Your son probably could show you how to get rid of it if you don't want it. I have it one mine and rarely use it but sometimes I do.
If you contact someone that doesn't want you to they will probably just ignore you but usually if you know this person already they would not mind getting an email from you. I don't use the yahoo email simply because I don't need to used it. I have another email address so that works fine for me. Dh doesn't share my computer much he has his own laptop and his own email address.
A 15 year old should be able to help you get a lot of places. Don't worry about trying new sites if you don't try them you don't learn out to use the sites. Just like using our board, facebook and other sites you will find are easy and fun.

Thank you again and your right if I don't try I won't learn. I missed chat today to but my dd was trying to remodel and paint my dgd's room before she got home from school as a birthday gift. So I went to help her turn a young girls room into a teenagers room. Came out really nice. My dgd was so surprised and absolutely loves it.
I also asked her to come over sometime and give her dgm computer lessons. She said she would but she is involved in all kinds of school activities she didn't know when. She does so well with all her activities, has learned 4 different instruments which she has won awards for them all, she sings in the church choir and school chorus and is their soloist and she's in the school spring play of high school musical.
What a girl we're all so proud of her.
HI Cindi
Your dgd sounds like a great girl. Just remember when you go to different sites no one else can see into your computer but can only see the information you share on that site with people you choose to let see it.This is the way facebook works.
Have a great weekend
HUGS
Thanks again and that's what scares me I have no camera or webcam and nothing to share yet. Not much to put on facebook yet. Someone told me I should HTML whatever that is. All in good time. I'm still figuring out my email and how to approve certain mail from my spam blocker Lol. I think I've got it.
See you in chat Mon. Hugs Cindy
Don't worry about FB...no one can do anything you didn't
give them permission to do. I love FB!
Yahoo Mail is great and easy too!

Thanks for the info. Any good suggestions on where I might want to go and try things on facebook. My email addy on yahoo is cinamenii@yahoo.com
Go ahead and email me there if you like. That goes for anyone else on this board that wants.
I can totally relate. I just joined Facebook also and have no idea what I'm doing. I have several people on my "friends" page and am not entirely sure how they got there. Fortunately, though, there's no one there I don't want. I think it will be fun when I get it figured out. Good luck.
