Do you cry more easily now?

I was talking to a lady the other day about something she was upset and had tears over, and she said, "well, I cry when the flag passes by, so that doesn't mean anything."

I've been more teary in the past year, too, I have noticed. If you read my post to Mare's thread below (What ya doing?) I talk about how coming home from a nice vacation had me sobbing in the airplane. Stuff that never used to get to me, like news stories, old memories, talking about certain topics I feel strongly about....I used to be able to just shrug off or get through them with little emotion, but now, the tears come.

Geez, sometimes I think I'm going crazy, but it's probably just perimenopause. Boy, I am really getting sick of ol' Peri. He is the reason for so many annoyances in my life and those of my friends. Just doesn't seem fair.

So.....are YOU more teary now than in the past?

but today we went to an Irish restaurant and bagpipers came in playing...well I teared up!

my dad played the pipes!

are our emotions just closer to the surface?

Nope, I don't cry any easier now. Bear in mind, though, even as a child and teen, I cried at the Star Spangled Banner, Christmas Carols and even some TV commercials! Yep, just about anything gets me crying, and has for as long as I can remember.

Hi Red

I do cry more easily now. More when I was in my early and middle 50's but sometimes when I think of something that happenned the tears just roll. I sometimes cry when we fly home from seeing our Dd and her boys. I just hate to leave them knowing it will be a while before I get to see them again.

It is mostly

No I don't cry much anymore. I did in my late 40's and early 50's but not anymore.

However if I see an American flag go by or hear some of those old patriotic songs we grew up with I cry. Maybe it's because I remember when life was easier without the aches and pains. The nostalgia brings on the tears.

During menopause I cried all the time. Everything made me cry. Happy events, sad events

Hi everyone

New hear. How easily i cry seems to directly correlate with my stress and hormone level. But one thing that almost always sets me off is music. I haven't been able to figure out why. It could be a kids song one time, the national anthem another. It actually drives me a little crazy. I wonder if anyone else experiences this?

Welcome to the board, Barb....YES, music is a trigger for me, as well. There is one song in particular that sometimes I just have to turn off if it comes on. Depends on if anyone is around. It'll do it every time.

Oh yes, the national anthem...when the Olympics are on, forget about it.

HI Barb

Welcome to our board. Music does make me cry sometimes especially if it is something that really brings back memories of a certain time in my life.

HUGS
