Yes I love going to book stores with old used hardcover books with the wonderful artwork as well as looking at new books. I'm not crazy about paperbacks but they are easier to hold and read. I spend hours in our local library just looking. Luckily they know me so they just let me be.
Leaving a bookstore empty handed is very hard to do. But buying a book and helping the bookstore stay in business with the economy as bad as it is, is a very good thing. There isn't a dvd or tape in the world that can replace a book.
Ok Shhh I will tell you but don't let anyone else know... Yes I love bookstores... I went in the weekend before last even.
Hi Rj
Wow you didn't buy anything!!!! I love that store and yes when I go in there I have the harderst time. I could spend hours just browsing though. I too have been going to the library more and buying secondhand books at Goodwill.
I went past the store the other day and so wanted to just go in. Dh was with me though and he pull me on past LOL.
Good to see you Rj
Love ya
Yes, indeedy I do love books, bookstores, stationery shops....all that stuff. Good for you for using thee local library, though. Such dedicated people, like our Lor, should be utilized! You can drop some serious bankroll at the bookstore, that's for sure! But anything you want can be found at the library, and if not, they'll do what they can to get it for you.
I also belong to a group online, paperbackswap.com where you can trade in your books. You list the ones you want to "clear out" of your shelves, and get credits you can use to swap for books on others' lists. This is good if you are looking for a book you would like to own, but why pay for it if someone else is willing to give it away? All you pay for is postage. I've gotten a lot of gardening and birding books that I have kept and not re-swapped, but also a number of novels I've re-swapped when I'm done with them.
I kind of go in reading binges and droughts. For periods I will read one book after another, then go for a while when I don't read anything.
Yes, I love books and books stores too!
I have LOTS of books...but try not to save too many
when I do buy and I am finished , I donate them to the library (tax deduction!)
got rid of a lot in the move
still have some in boxes, just opened the box with all my Irish books, put them in a bookcase in the attic
also have books for kids, the dgds love them. last weekend dgd ,4, asked me to read one in English and Spanish!
dd loves books too
it is hard for me to use the library here
I always take a book wherever I go!
