My update........

Sorry I've been MIA on the board for a while, but things have been a bit hectic here.

Dh went for a follow-up sigmoidoscopy this morning, since he's still having flares of his Ulcerative Colitis.  According to the doc, his UC is much improved. It seems that the medicine can take a while to fully work, so that's why we've had ups and downs. Whew, what a relief! His UC was severe, so it's taking longer than we had hoped, but things are looking better! Needless to say, we're quite relieved! They're leaving the length of time between doses up to dh, depending on how he responds. He can get an infusion as often as 6 weeks or as long as 8. Another plus with the meds is that in knocking down his immune system, it's also clearing up his psoriasis! We have to be careful around people with colds or the flu, but we're washing our hands a lot, and using hand sanitizer.

Since he didn't need to be knocked out, he got to watch on the video monitor. The doc showed him what the healthy areas look like, and compared them to the ulcerated area. He said it was quite an education, and really eased his worries.

Spring is kind of here. We've had some great weather followed by more snow. We haven't gotten hit as bad as some others, here, did. They're predicting snow again this weekend, but the ground has warmed up a bit, so it doesn't stick around long. The bulbs are all up and blooming, and the flowering shrubs are budding out. We were able to get out a couple of weekends ago, and do some yard work, trimming some vines. It was nice getting some sun and fresh air, after being stuck inside for so long.

I'm still trying to get organized, but I think it's a losing battle. There's just so much clutter around here, I think I need to rent a dumpster and have the dreaded cousins come to visit again! LOL

Hey, Jan...don't apologize for anything. Your DH has really been through the wringer, and so indirectly, you have too. I am very glad for the both of you that things are improving. What a long haul! Does he still have to travel a lot for work?

We are seeing a lot of the same signs of spring here. The forsythia and flowering quince are all bloomed out---lots of bulbs up. But still drizzly and cold. I wish we could put together a good stretch of 4-5 days including at least one weekend that is dry so we could plant a few seeds. Too cold for many to germinate, though.

Hang in there girl! Better days are coming!

Hi Jan

Good to see you posting!! I sure miss getting to see you at chat in the mornings since we no longer have a chat room here on iVillage.

I am so glad you Dh is doing better and nice to have the information so you know more of what to expect as he battles this problem. Sounds like patience is one thing that you have to have to deal with this.

I wondered if spring had finally begun to at least try to pop up there. Always loved those first days of warming when the bulbs and things begin to poke their heads above the soil. Love the trees as they sprout those little tiny green leaves. Spring is of course in full swing here the pollen this year is driving me nuts.

Well Jan you know not everyone is organized. Sometimes it just isn't meant to be. Maybe a visit from those dreaded cousins is in order to help you get rid of some of the stuff. Hang in there my friend I love you just the way your are.

Love

Wow Jan your dh sure has been through a lot the last while!

I am sure that this will take a while longer to get right, but sounds like he is on the right road anyhow!

Thanks for updating all of us. I'm so glad that things are going fine and getting better each day. I know you were concerned about the bleeding. Now you can ease your mind.

It was a beautiful day here today. Short sleeve weather. I played golf and it was wonderful. Now I'm so tired I can't move but would like to get out in the yard.

Getting organized is a problem for me too. No matter how hard I try there is alays "Stuff" around. Having those twins in and out doesn't help. They are always rearranging my stuff and just generally think they live here. I like to see them come, and I like to see them go.

Sorry I can't make this bigger. Somehow it slips my mind how to do it. Oh the aging brain.
