3wks Late , but BFN on all tests, HELP?

Hello, This is my first time on here. I have all physical symptoms of being PG, however all test show up negative. The same thing happened to me when I was pregnant with my son. that was 5yrs ago. I had done 3 blood tests, and 11 HPT before I got a positive result. I was in the beginning of my 2nd trimester before any tests showed positive. My hubby & I have been TTC for 2 1/2 years and he was tested last fall for fertility and it came up that he has a low swimmer count. Everyone is saying that I am PG. I am trying to be optomistic but it is hard when you have had so many let downs.

AF has always been regular with me since she first arrived when I was 12. Her last normal visit was May 15th, then she spotted a visit for 2days in June, and then spotted for less than 24 hours on July 19th. Which was a week late. I want to be pregnant so bad.

I went to the OB/GYN on Thursday and he said he tested my urine twice and both times came back negative. I told about when I was pregnant with my son, and he acted like he didn't believe me. He told me it wasn't possible that I was in my 2nd trimester before a test showed positive. So he gave me some pills to help jumpstart AF and there is NO WAY IN HELL I am going to take those with the chance of aborting my baby.

Has anyone experience the same thing with the tests? I want to start celebrating my pregnancy if I am. I feel pregnant and I am 95-98% positive that I am.

ANY advice will be greatly appreciated.

I am 15 days late.. 6 HPTs, all BFNs... I had blood test on 7/21 and it was negative also.. so Monday (7/28) I had another appt with my dr. (I got another blood test... and I am still waiting for the result..

My dr. told me that maybe I am in early early pregnancy.... since I never ever late before, My breasts are sore, lower abdomen cramping, frequent urination...... so.. the best thing is just wait until the result came back...

Good luck for you all ladies...

I have never experienced that issue. You must be going crazy. I am pretty lucky in that with my last two preg, I show + the day after I miss AF.

In your case, the only thing I can suggest is, seeing as this has happened in the past, and you seem pretty confident you are pg, get your doctor to dol an ultrasound. (It sounds like your doctor is not very helpful though).

If he refuses, go to a planned parenthood/clinic and see if you can get one there. Tell them your history and your concerns. I am sure you can find someone out there to provide tests to ease your mind either way.

One thing I have learned, never ignore your instincts!

Hope that helps...Good luck and I hope you get your BFP soon.

As with Raven, I've never personally experienced what you've gone through, but I would probably insist on an u/s, too. I'm concerned that your doctor discredited your first experience and tried to give you medication without fully investigating to see that you were indeed not pregnant. Any chance you could change doctors? There has to be one out there who is more sensitive than yours seems. I hope you are indeed pregnant. Good luck and keep us posted.

Amanda and takiyak901, I'm happy to know that what's going on with me isn't totally off the wall. I'm (today) 3 weeks late. Been on the Pill, not TTC, but missed some pills and changed brands about 3 1/2 months ago, and know that I BD'd around the estimated time that I should have O'd in late June. BFN on 4 HPT and a blood test. 2 weeks ago, I was really sure that I was PG - crampy, CM, sooo tired, queazy. When I got another BFN yesterday, I started thinking that I needed to get on with it ('you're not PG, deal with it'). Glad to hear there's still hope for me... :-) If I'm not PG, I don't want to deal with whatever might be the alternative.

I agree that you (we) need to find better doctors. When I went in last week for an exam, the doctor told me that I was not PG, my body is not 21 anymore (I'm 32) and it takes a while to respond to missing a pill. That's not a good answer and I left still confused and now angry. I've been on the pill for 11 years, missed and delayed pills occasionally for the last 9, and still been every 28 days to the T. She told me to go home and not think about it, finish up the pack of pills and AF would come. If not, they'd change my pill to another one.

***SHOULD I STILL BE TAKING THE PILLS?*** Has anyone been in the situation where you were not TTC and on the Pill and then thought you might be PG? If I am PG, I don't want to abort by taking pills. Thanks.

I've missed periods when I was on the pill. And truthfully, I was pretty bad about missing pills sometimes. The pill can cause you not to have a period. (Though, it's a pretty good idea to test.) At the time, I did not want to be pregnant, thought the odds were bad, and had no pg symptoms.

I guess my advice would depend on whether you want to be pregnant and your personal beliefs about the beginning of life. If a pregnancy may be wanted, I'd wait it out without taking the pills. Otherwise, I'd follow the advice you got from your doctor.

If you're not pregnant, this may have stirred up some desires about being pregnant. It may be no accident. It might be time to have the big talk with your significant!

Good luck and I hope everything turns out the way you want.

Yours,

Kate

I didn't go through the exact same thing but two years ago I had been pregnant. I thought something was wrong from the beginning. I miscarried 5 weeks into the pregnancy. Later that same year when I became pregnant again I called the Dr's and requested a hcg level and a progesterone level. These two tests will tell you the exact numbers. My dr told me that the hcg level had to be above 15 and mine was 32. He said you're a little pregnant. It boomed after that. My big problem was my progesterone. I had to take supplements for the first 20 weeks of the pregnancy. I would specifically tell them you want levels and you want to know the numbers. Get tough with the Dr. I was very upset when I miscarried. I had many problems with cysts for years. He told me the miscarriage was ment to happen and it was nothing to worry about. How do you not get upset? Because of that, I learned to stand up for myself and demand to know what I need to Know to empower myself. I now have a beautiful 1 year old daughter. I hope everything turns out ok. Good Luck!!!
