I delivered my little boy jonathan on feb. 19, 2003, and I haven't had a period yet, but I've been told that I haven't had one because I have been breast feeding. But here is the question, I started taking birth control pills last month and today I start my second pack and still no period. Could someone give me an idea of what might be going on with me. Thanks all your inputs are appreciated.

I know that when you breastfeed sometimes you dont get your period. I think the breastfeeding would still affect it even it you are taking bcp. Have you asked the doctor??

Hello, I had my DS on 4/26/02 and didn't get my first period until 6/19. What BCP are you taking? I took Micronor(generic) and stopped taking it late May and stopped nursing in May. With my DD she was born 11/6 and I nursed until May and didn't get AF until June. Hope that helps.

Yes, I have spoken to my doctor about it when i went in for my check up and he also stated that the reason I haven't had a period was becuase i was breastfeeding but that was also the reason he put me on the pills so i could start getting a period and I'm on my second and still no period. What do you think? Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I'm taking Ortho Micronor for birth control pills. My son is 5 months old and usually the pill is what begins to regulate you but I don't understand why I haven't had one yet.....Especially since I started my second pack of pills.....

I work in a pharmacy, and have talked with my OB about it, Micronor is a low dose BCP. I was told you can take any BCP while breastfeeding, but the reason Micronor is used most often is so your milk supply doesn't go down which can even happen with these ones. Also, one of the pharmacist I work with had a baby 3 months after my son was born and she was in hte same position as me, but she got her AF back way sooner than me and she said it was probably judt due to the fact that my hormones were running higher than hers were, therfore keeping me from getting my period. Hope that helps.

IF you are exclusively nursing your child, you very often will not get your period for quite a while. (It's actually one of the benefits!) But it usually depends on how often your child nurses. If it is exclusive and at least every three hours around the clock, you can expect no not ovulate until for six months. (info from the appendices of "Taking Charge of Your Fertility.")

AF often does not return until a month after additional food is supplemented. This held true with my first -- af did not return until he was 6½ months. It actually didn't return for a year with my second. (She sure liked nursing.)

I would not fret about not getting your af. It's perfectly normal, and a great way to space children w/o the expense of bcp!
