I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER WHOM IS GOING TO BE ONE YEAR OLD IN THREE WEEKS. I HAVE NOW HAD A NAUTIOUS FEELING ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT 1 WEEK NOW WITH ALMOST VOMITING A COUPLE OF TIMES. I THINK IT'S TOO EARLY TO TAKE A TEST AND FRANKLY I'M A LITTLE NERVOUS. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE PLANNING ON WAITING UNTIL NEXT SUMMER TO GET PREGNANT. I REALLY DON'T WANT ANOTHER CHILD RIGHT NOW. WE ARE JUST BEGINING TO GET BACK INTO A ROUTINE THAT WORKS FOR US. THE THREE OF US ARE BEGINING TO TRAVEL AGAIN AND ARE ENJOYING IT. I REALLY JUST WANTED TO ENJOY MY DAUGHTER FOR A WHILE AND GIVE EACH CHILD SPECIAL MOMMY AND ME TIME. AM I BEING TOO SELFISH? HOW HARD IS IT TO HAVE TWO CHILDREN ONLY 1 YR AND 9 MO APART? IF ANYONE HAS ANY OPINIONS LET ME KNOW. TY

I had wanted my children very close together, but nature apparently had other plans! I know people who have children close together, and it was very difficult for them in the beginning. They muttled through, though.

But after the children got older, the children were quite close. It's a trade-off.

Good luck. I hope everything turns out well for you.

My 2 are 17 months apart, we didn't neccesarily plan it that way since it took us 2+1/2 years to conceive our DD. We thought it would take a while the next time too, boy was I wrong. It has been tough at times, but your mommy mode just kicks in and everything turns out just fine. If you have a lot of help from others around you it helps out tremendously. Good Luck!!!

My boys are 20mo's apart, i became pregnant when my first ds was a year.............and let me tell you it's so worth it!! It's tough of course, but what's not tough? I mean they get baths together, eat together, play(well sort of, they are still only 3 and 1)together........and they have each other, and here i am with maybe trying for another, lol, nuts I know. But of course when we go away it's 2 carseats, more diapers and a little tougher but not by much. I say go for it and enjoy it!!!

Hi there, I'm usually on a different board but popped over here when I thought baby #3 might be on the way. Anyway I just wanted to tell you that I became PG when my dd was a year. I had fertility problems with my dd and it took 2 years and clomid to conceive her. Dh and I decided to be cafeful for a year and then let nature take it's course thinking it would take a while and BOOM ~I was PG that week. My children are 21 mos apart. My ds just turned a year July 10 and my dd will be 3 in October. I love it!!!! They are becoming the best of friends and watching them play together steals my heart. I was REALLY sick when PG with ds and I still remember my dd pretending to vomit to make fun of me or slamming the toilet seat on my head as I got sick~LOL. I guess it wasn't as funny back then but looking back makes me laugh. If you are PG you will be fine. My dd and ds are growing up together and I LOVE it. ~BTW~ A mom in our Gymboree class became PG when her dd was 3 mos. Her kids were almost exactly a year apart and she survived. Good luck and you'll be fine. In fact, I know you'll end up loving it as I do. ~Jenn (mom to Victoria 10-9-99 and Zachary 7-10-02)

Jerrbear2000, it looks as though our children were born almost around the same time. Although you said your firs was born in 99, is that right? If it is it would make your children 2+1/2 years apart not 1+1/2. My 1st was born 11/6/00 and 2nd 4/26/02.

Hi! We were in a very similar situation. My ds was 11 months when we got pregnant with our dd. They are almost 20 months apart. At first, I was truly scared to death and felt we were robbing my oldest of his "special" time. My thoughts on that have changed and I realize that we gave him a wonderful gift. He has a best friend and play partner everyday all day long. They get along beautifully (most of the time). Their first thoughts when they get up are always of each other, wondering where the other is. We are military and their dad is frequently gone so it really helps them to have each other. We are now expecting #3 and my dd and new baby will be 2 1/2 years apart. I hope they will be as close. We travel a lot too. The kids spend most of the trip talking to each other in the backseat. The kids and I just returned from a visit home (16 hour drive both ways). We even took the dog. I wouldn't change a thing! Good Luck to you!

I don't have two of my own that close, but my brother and I are only 17 months apart, so I was 8 months old when my mom got pregnant with my brother. She said it was hard for those first few years, but she wouldn't have traded it for anything. My brother and I have always been close, and we are still close now that I am 23 and he is 22. It may be rough on you at first, but it will give them each other to play with and will be great for them. They'll keep each other occupied better too.

NO NO NO! Oh my, I guess having them 21 mos apart ate more of my brain cells then I can handle. Either that or I needed another cup of coffee this morning. My dd was born Oct 9 of 2000 and Zach was born 7-10-02. So, let's try this AGAIN~ Jenn ( mom to Victoria 10-9-00 and Zach 7-10-02) ;-)

My brother and I are 19 months apart. I was 10 months old when my mom found out. We are best friends! And REMEMBER you still have 8 months of mommy and me time!!!!! I know it scary but when the baby is here it will all fall into place!

Hi,

I have been trying to get pregnant for 5 years; no luck. Be thankful if you are and just think of all those out there who would change places with you in a moment.

Good luck
