I guess i do not understand all that I read. So many woman talk about all of these syptoms before they have missed their period. But, most studies show that breast tenderness starts a week after the missed period and nausea a week after that. My sister just became pregnant (ttc) and her first syptom was her missed period...she had all syptoms after that. Are the studies wrong or are there more woman out there that had no syptoms until they missed their period??????

From what i've read, breast tenderness, frequent urination and nausea can start before you even miss your period. These symptoms can be used and often are used as an indicator to pregnancy before you can test with a home kit. The thing to remember is that not everyone is alike, not everyone gets breast tendernoss and not evreyone gets nausea. there are so many things going on in our bodies how can evrything be so standard! I've heard doctors say that the only true way to know you are pregnant is the day you give birth, not too helpful is it!

In my opinion, there is no book that can state what a women feels upon becoming pregnant. Everyone is SO different :) Me, for example, am VERY in tune to my body. If I am pregnant (which I hope), this will be number 4, and my last 2 pregnancies I had symptoms (sore BB's, frequent urination, twinges in my pelvis, and keen sense of smell) before a missed period. But this is coming from a woman who felt fetal movements @ only 9weeks. The doctor didn't even believe me :) He had me turn my head away from the monitor during the U/S and had me tell him when I felt movement......all he said was "UNBELIEVEABLE!" I was right on with her every movement :) :) So I guess is what Im saying, you can't base a whole lot on studies or from other women for that matter. Everyone's bodies are different. Best of luck to you!!!!

First off I would like to say I was not ttc nor did I believe I could get pregnant (long story about frequent ovarian cysts and synthetic hormones so I could menstruate) so symptoms were the furthest from my mind. At about 2-3 days before my period was due I had extremely sore bb's, so sore I could no longer stand to wear a bra and even put a halt to my sex life. When AF was due I was cramping so bad I thought I was going to die (which was really unusual because AF usually came before the cramps). A few days later I began having to get up every few hours to go to the bathroom and this unbearable urge to pee all the time. Finally at two weeks late my sister was convinced I was pregnant and bought me an HPT, which I was reluctant to take. After about 45 seconds she started giggling and handed the HPT back to me so I could watch the test line slowly start forming. And that is how I am where I am now, 19 weeks along and going strong. I hope this helped answer your question because yes I did have symptoms before my period was due.

I've been pregnant three times that I know of (1 ended in miscarriage, 1 in live birth, and 1 was a D&C due to a blighted ovum) - except for the live birth I've had symptoms within a week of conception. With the live birth I did have symptoms, but I didn't attribute them to a pregnancy. I really had no clue. LOL. Looking back after I finally took the test - it was a 'slap the forehead' moment. I had VERY sore nipples (you all prolly heard me scream when I hit one with the fridge door), PMS moodiness to the Nth degree (let's just say that it's lucky I am still married after that - ever seen the Exorcist?), etc. I think most of those women who say they don't have symptoms would be those women who aren't looking for them, assume they are something besides pregnancy related, or they aren't in tune with their bodies.

I could be pregnant again, but I am not due for AF for another week. I already have that 'low-voltage electrical zingy feeling' in my uterus region. I've been emotional. My vagina seems very 'closed' at the opening, and the ejaculate didn't reappear after the BD when I ovulated like it usually does. Also, I've noticed that I get really horny when I ovulate, and when I got pregnant the last couple of times that I actually paid attention to this, I lost that feeling very quickly. I still wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't pregnant though, because I've imagined these symptoms many times before.

Just like most things, it's very individual. There are always exceptions to all 'stereotypes.'

Good luck to all! May your fondest wishes come true!

My recollection from my previous two pregnancies was that I didn't have pregnancy symptoms before missing AF, but also didn't have typical pattern of PMS symptoms (though my symptoms are never severe). I am a person who pays close attention, so it's not that I was missing something. The change in pattern was my only clue. Those occasions when I have experienced nausea, fatigue, etc. while waiting for AF I turned out not to be pregnant (perhaps worry will wear you out and make you feel sick). Traditional wisdom is that symptoms don't really kick in until about 6 wks after LMP, but I'm sure that reality covers a very wide range. So as the other ladies have said, everyone is different, but it's certainly not a bad sign if you don't have pg symptoms as soon as you conceive. Hope this helps!

Each pregnancy is different for every woman. Here is a really nice article:

"The onset and degree of pregnancy symptoms will vary within women. Many women experience them within days of conception, others take a few weeks before pregnancy symptoms kick in and a lucky few feel no discomfort at all. The early pregnancy symptoms listed on this page generally can be felt once implantation occurs (8 - 10 days from ovulation) and will lessen after the first trimester.

It is frustrating to realize that many pregnancy symptoms are very similar to those that occur right before menstruating. However, combined with high temperatures and a longer luteal phase - they are key indications that you have achieved pregnancy success!"

Month in and month out I experience some symptoms that could be AF or PG, and lots of women on here truly believe some months that they are pg when in fact they are not. It's easy to do when you start reading all these symptoms. Suddenly everything becomes a pg symptom. The trick is to keep a journal of how you feel all month long. Track it for a couple of months and you will begin to recognize these symptoms. I did this and it really helped. I knew when I became pg b/c of some symptoms I didn't have in the previous months. I had not sore, but tingly bb's and twitches in my stomach. I had indegestion and nausea early on and I had a nervous feeling. I was also crying a lot more, but not experiencing my normal PMS. I had some cramps, but I have endometriosis so they weren't near as bad as they normally get. AF comes like clockwork at 14dpo. Never longer than that so at 15dpo I knew if I were to test I would get a BFP!! I did in a matter of seconds. So, the symptoms could very definetly be an early indicator if you know your body well enough. Just remember that every body's different and (winking) don't believe everything you read. ;-) This will be helpful, too when you become pg b/c then you hear and read ALL kinds of stuff. Trust your body and your instincts.

Dear Girlinapril, pajean and Aimee,

Thank you all for what you wrote. It is so hard to read this message board with all the syptoms flying around. I was starting to feel like i was "not in touch with my body". I have noted many different syptoms through out the months and some times I am sure i am PG and then AF shows. This month has been a little different...no symptoms...except camping around implant time. Now it is a day before AF and it feels like it....very crampy...but also nauseous which i usually am not. All I can do is keep my fingers crossed and pray. If AF arrives i will just have to smile and try again.

Best of luck to all and lots of baby dust!!!!
