Could I still be pg??

I am (was?) 5 wks. pg. I had an u/s done yesterday because of spotting. There was no visible gestational sac. The ob said that it may just be too early to see, but shouldn't there be something there at 5 wks.? I had my hCG levels tested yesterday and again tomorrow. They were in the normal range yesterday. Anyone else ever hear of this? I know it could be ectopic, but I am just trying to think positively. Thanks.

I'm not a regular poster here but can tell you my story and experience with this.

I was 5 weeks pregnant. took a hpt, was positive, started bleeding later that day. had u/s in my ob's office ( I work there) but my uterus is tipped and it was shadowing out the area that the sac might be. went for another u/s at the hospital and the don't think what they saw was a sac, were thinking is was a blighted ovum possibly, which is when the sac forms but never develops into a baby, so I had another u/s a week later and there was my little peanut. heartbeat an all. so yes 5 weeks is possible too early to see anything on an u/s and your set of HCG levels will be the best determining factor in what's going on, if they go up, that is a very good sign, if they go down, well then you know what that means. I had 2 early miscarriages before that pregnancy so it was very difficult. until we got me second hcg levels back, my ob was sure I was miscarrying but my baby girl turned one in July!!

Best of luck and thoughts for you!
