I may be struggling with the same problem. I test this weekend.

Most insurance companies won't cover you if you are already pregnant.

If you live in a state (assuming your from the US) that has a need-based program for healthcare, you may be eligible for it. In Illinois, they have a Medicard system that is based on house-hold income.

Some states also require health insurance companies to cover some pre-existing conditions including pregnancy.

Some churches also are willing to help out with the medical needs of its parishoners or others in the community. I know my own church did a lot to help out a teen in our outreach program. We held a baby shower for her and donated nursery equipment, to help lighten her budget a bit. She actually started attending an abstinence program afterwards. It was great.

I know how you feel. I am twenty-one, just got married, and might be pregnant. My husband is covered through a campus program, but I'm not. I haven't been able to afford health insurance for four years, but wasn't eligible for a medical card because I still lived with my dad and he made too much money.

Anyway, I'll keep checking around and let you know what I find out. You might try at your county's health department first.

God Bless and Good Luck!

We are self pay. It took me awhile to accept that. Our baby is due in March. We were trying for this baby, too. We just didn't realize that there would be so many complications with DH's job. DH makes too much money for us to qualify for govt. assistance or anything of the such, but there are things out there for people who qualify. I do have an insurance policy that does not cover pregnancy, but will cover emergencies, complications and it will cover the baby when the baby is born.

We will make it. Lord willing.

Best Wishes! Hope you find the answer!

You need to contact the Head Start Program in your area. (All 50 states have them and even several international counties have them...)

1.Anyways ask if the have a Birth To three program. It's new and serves pregnant women and babies. Their program will be able to give you information on WIC, Kidconnect, and other medical insurance options.

2.If your community does not have a birth to three program contact the Head Start program should be able to give you the same information.

3.If they cannot, then contact Community Action Agency in your area and they should be able to direct you.

Good luck! There are several programs designed for pregnant women. It just seems to take a few phone calls to find them. Hopefully you can find a Birth to Three program because they are wonderful!

I'm in the same boat, only my husband is currently out of work as am I. I have never had a job, didn't grad HS. Hell, I've got to get everyones SS #, income before taxes, and proof of pregnancy before I can attempt to go to the health department to try for medicade! Without medicade, I have to pay at least $100 minimum payment everytime I go see my doctor! My husband is TRYING to get back in the Air Force and become a Crew Chief or a Computer Tech, but we've got to wait on the recruiter to call us back, and that could be a while, and until then, we've GOT to get jobs because we've got a insurance payment due, he's has to get his tag redone next month, and we owe my mom rent for living in her house! Although she's never here, she pays the bills because no one has a job!! Will someone pray for me and my family?! If so, it would be greatly appreicated!!! Thanks!!!
