Possible for fert'd egg to not implant?
| Sat, 10-04-2003 - 2:32pm |
I have a strange question. For 4 of the last 5 months, I've had pg symptoms starting a few days after ovulation and going on for about a week. Normaly I only get painful bb's if 1)I'm pg, or 2)I'm on the pill. So I've been getting 'em to where it hurts to stand up in the morning. This along w/a few other symptoms. Anyway, if it were "all in my head," it stands to reason that the symptoms would persisit b/c I want so much to be pregnant. But instead, the symptoms stop as abruptly as they started, which of course is about as crushing as getting AF. I mean, I wake up one morning and have normal bbs, no hearturn, no nausea, nothing.
I spoke to a friend of mine who's a nurse, and she suggested that it might be that we're successfully fertilizing an egg, but that it isn't implanting. Have any of you ever heard of this? Of course it's now the weekend so i can't get in to see my doc, but I'll make an appt Monday. But if anyone has heard of this and has any info, I'd really really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Deb

It is definately possible. When an egg fert'd but does not implant, it is called a chemical pregnancy. Many women don't even know it happens to them b/c their AF will only be late a few days. This has happened to me 2 times in four months. It is a VERY early miscarriage. I know I was having them b/c I took HPT that came ot positive and a few days later either neg. or I get my AF. I also took blood tests. I am in the process of temping now. Good luck!

Same here, i had a "chemical pg" last month, i was devastated as i always thought "a line is a line" and just "assumed" i would produce a baby 9 months later, so when AF showed up 8 days late it was awful. I just hope it doesnt happen to me again this cycle.
good luck!!

I think I had that once but I wasn't sure. That is so disappointing especially if you got a positive pregnancy result.
Good luck to alllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!
I think normally you would get a heavier period from this.
I am from BC how about you???

That's almost EXACTLY what I experienced... except for the being late part. But aaargh, the total disappearance of symptoms... overnight! You're right, it's the pits! But I'm so glad to hear that it's normal and I'm not some lunatic imagining all this. Thanks so much for the reply.
