Okay, I'm on BC, my last period was November 6-11. The first day I started back on active pills (the 10th) I got sick and ended up throwing up (TMI, sorry) about 2 1/2 hours after taking my first pill in my new pack. I am always consistant in taking my pills, with at most a 2 hour time difference (usually take them at 9:30, sometimes don't take them until 11:30, but that has never seemed to be a problem). I'm stressed because I'm afraid that that one time I got sick after my first pill in the pack, my pills could not be working this month. I had sex the day after my period ended, the 11th, and I know, scientfically, since I am like clock work with a 28 day cylce, that it is not possible for me to have gotten pregnant then, as if I were to ovulate, it would not be anywhere near the right time for ovulation. HOWEVER, I had sex on the wednesday during week two of my pills (last week), which, if I was to ovulate, would be perfect timing. My BF did not finish inside me (ugh, TMI, again, sorry). Okay, to the point, would throwing up right 2 1/2 hours after taking that very first pill caused my chances of pregnancy this cycle to soar? I'm pretty freaked out. I have a 2 year old that is my life, but I'm just NOT ready for another child!

Hi Bridgett...I would say, IMO that your chances of becoming pg from just throwing up 2.5 hours after taking your 1st pill are very, very slim. Two and a half hours is actually a long time for at least part of the pill to have been absorbed anyways... and also chances of getting pg even if you missed taking it altogether, since it was only one pill are again pretty slim. I'd say you probably don't have much to worry about. But if you still feel uneasy, call your doctors office...or actually, better yet, call a pharmacist and explain your situation. I find that pharmacists tend to know better about pill-specific questions than doctors anyways because they're trained to know more about medicines and their side-effects, etc.
Good luck... hope that helped a little bit! ;)

Thank you so much for your input, and it DOES help! The way I looked at it, Advil, Tylenol, ect., start to work about 30 minutes after taking them, so you know they're being absorbed pretty quickly, why would BC be any different? Oh wait...because it's BIRTH CONTROL! :) I'm hoping my reasoning isn't too off the wall. I'm sure that even if the whole pill wasn't absorbed, then at least half of it was! I looked on the internet to try to find an asnwer, and only found them on ECP, which states that if you throw up less than an HOUR after taking the ECP, then you should take another dose, so obviously after an hour, pharmacists and doctors feel the ECP has had time to be absorbed, and I'm hoping BC would be the same! Thank you, again!
