Yesturday I brought a more expensive hpt than the usual dollar ones, for the first time my symtom seemed right and were worthy of the extra 10 bucks. My period (strictly regular) is 7 days late and Ive been spotting pink and brownish stains, Ive been getting horoble headaches and lower backache. It feels as if Im going to get my period but nothing happens. Well to my suprise it was a big -. Today I had my first fertility appointment "finally", my Dr could'nt examen me becuase of pregnacy possibility, so I took a UT, that by the way also came out -. I was so looking foward to starting any type of treatment, but now she "unsatisfied" canceled and wants me to take a blood test next week.

Im scared that the waiting will only make me more stressful cuasing my period not to come. I just want to start any treatment already instead of getting another negative. I really have lost my hope. I would like any opinion or to hear from someone who can relate to this.

Hey,
Sorry to hear about your frustrating time! Just wondering why the doc didn't draw your blood right then since you're already a week late...I just wanted to comment about the stress delaying your period...I read in Toni Weschler's book "Taking Charge of your Fertility", that stress can delay your ovulation, which would therefore delay your period starting, but once you've already ovulated, AF will start 12-14 days later regardless of your stress level. So basically, stress can delay ovulation, but not your period..make sense? So hopefully you can cross that one worry off your list..Good luck, and I hope you get some answers soon! How frustrating...I sympathize...H

Brownish blood means old blood and you are having problems with your period not coming normally so if you are negative you may need a D/C that is what the doctor is trying to figure out. Very bright red is fresh blood different than brown. So your doctor is right to see if you will be positive in a few days do what the doctor said. You can't be treated for something you don't know. You don't have an infection maybe dysfunctional uterine bleeding that will require treatment if it continues and you don't get a period. Birth control pills can keep your period regular if that does not work and you are not pregnant you may need a D/C.

Good luck and calm down it will all be ok whatever the outcome is.

Happy New Year.

Thankyou so much, sometimes I try I tell people that Im not stressing over this, but then I think am I being honest?. Even though I feel emotionally happy, Im at the point that only reading about anything that has to do with fertility (everyday)calms me down. I take pregnacy test even without having symtoms. But sharing my experinences and hearing from other women in this site has given me much more control. By the way my period came this morning. Thanks again.

I am glad you got your period so you can be at ease and not be wondering. However, I work in OB not fertility. I am sorry to say I don't know anything about charting. I think the women on this website know more about the fertility stuff than doctors......I can't even understand half the things they say because of all the abbreviations...

Keep a calendar of your period though because you will need to show it to the doctor if you are irregular.

Good luck.

Thanks. Im also struggling most of the time to crack the codes. I guess I do feel happy that I got my period, thats another fresh start. As of this new year I decided that I should start to loose weight, I know for sure that it is going to take some time before a diag. from the dr, (I live in a military base and it seems all people do is get pregnant) It's hard to get an appointment. I tell my husband that probaly my problem is that in one year Ive gained 40 pounds. My aunt couldnt get pregnant for about 12 yrs until she lost about 80 pounds. I know that loosing a lot of weight can also affect your fertility. But even if it doesnt work Ill still be doing good for my health. Thanks again.

You are so wonderful for thinking that way. It is very dangerous for you and the baby. You have a fresh start....I recently lost 31 lbs and I have to say easily. I have always been overweight and now I wear a size 10 and can't believe it. I am 42 y/o. I refused to diet because I have always eaten right my problem is portion control if it is in front of me I eat it. My husband is the best cook on earth! So that makes it difficult. So during the weekday I am a very good eater. I suffer from depression so I decieded if I increased my activity I would feel better and it has been a positive result all around. So I decided to walk more and be more active. Started back in college and with 2 little kids and a full time job it is not easy, however I am busy all the time so motivated to keep moving. Did you ever here "if you don't use it you lose it" I am not going to lose it! If you increase your activity the weight will fall off without much effort. I got a palm pilot (because I need that to stay organized at work) and loaded music on it and I walk in the morning, the fresh air is wonderful when I don't walk outside I started on the treadmill and then graduated to the eliptical machine. I am addicted to that now, I love it! I feel so much better with the benefit of fitting in to smaller clothes. I eat fresh vegitables all day long and select soups 5 days a week. I eat all day long but small amounts and a regular dinner. My email is eclaprood@bellsouth.net if you want to stay in contact. Elyse

Hi Jaqc, thankyou for motivating me, I really need it. I just want to congradulate you on loosing all those pounds. It's not a secret that the worst part is to start. I can relate to you on your husband being a cook. I make the best cheesecakes and german choc-cakes. Im always looking to suprise my hubby with some wonderful new recipy, and he loves it. Well you know what, hes the one in perfect shape, still looking good, while Im the one with the extra, extra pounds. I look at my pictures before marriage, I never new how good I looked to be honest. Its like I was someother person. And I want to be that person again. Im worried about getting pregnant at this weight, and really, really loosing control of it. But Im cutting on the goodies and eating at night. I want to start walking but the weather doesnt help. Well any tips, please?
