False Positive?

Well I know that I am not pregnant now but a while ago I had unprotected sex and my period was about a month late so I decided to take a pregnancy test and it came up positive. Then I waited a while and took another one and it came up negative. I don't know if I ever was pregnant but everyone that I have talked to has told me that there is no such thing as a false negative unless you are on fertility drugs, recently miscarried, or had an abortion. What I really want to know is if I was ever really pregnant and probably had a miscarriage cause this is what everyone told me and I did not have a period for two months and had to have it chemically started.

I also want to mention that when I did take the test it was a digital ept test and the "pregnant" read out showed up almost instantly after I peed on the stick.

I was told that there are no false positives only false negatives. If you took a ept test and it says pg then you are pg. Congrats! If you are still questioning it go see your doc to have a blood test done.

Good luck!

Hello,

I have never heard of a digital test giving false results. If you told me it was the EPT with the blue dye, I would have told you not to trust it. I have had "false positives" in the past. I know some people say there is not such thing but I strongly

I had the same problem with the Clearblue +/- tests in December. I had 3 tests all with very thin blue lines, which turned out to be negatives! I will only use the two line tests with pink dye (such as Internet cheapies or First Response) or digitals from now on!

Hello,

First Response is my favorite too. I know they can get pricey but I rather have no questions after. I have never used the digital because I hear they arent as sensitive and I havent been that late with AF to know/think I would get a "Pregnant".

I would guess that you probably were pregnant, all the signs seem to be there, and you may have miscarried. Was your next period a little heavy or more cramping? That would be a sure sign. There are very few false positives, especially if the test showed such immediate results. I guess the only confirmation would have been to go to a dr., but if you are after that point now (not pregnant anymore) then they wouldn't be able to tell. If you did miscarry and feel were wanting a child, I am so sorry for your loss, as I have recently miscarried myself.

You probably lost a pg. On my last m/c my dr actually had me take cheap pg tests until they came up neg to confirm when hcg out of my system. (He knew how i felt about needless blood tests). I was 9wks when u/s confirmed missed m/c.
