Yesterday turned out absolutely great and I couldn't have asked for a a better day. Our friends turned out in a large number so it ended up sort of like the high school dances; the guys had their meeting and we gals wandered to another room in the building and had girly talk and it was quite interesting. Rushed home and did last minute pick up and before we knew it our friends were here, DH went to pick up the Chinese food and we sure h ad fun catching up. Haven't seen them since Christmas so all went well and a fun evening.

Today I am going out for lunch with the girls. One gal just came back from Spain and the other gal is visitng her sister from Oregon and will be leaving in a few days so we knew that we would be going out as soon as we could all get together. I don't know where or what restaurant, but as long as the company is good I don't mind. I'm sure DH will be able to survive on leftover Chinese food!

I don't know if I mentioned or not, but was saddened to hear that a friend of mine died from Primary Biliary Cirrhosis of the liver. A lot of people would immediately connect this with a drinking problem but not so in this case; she was dx'd with it in her early 40's and I don't know what triggered it but they told her it is often times fatal. She was only 53. We were all shocked and saddened to hear of this, and it was the pneumonia that finally took her at the end.

What do you gals think of the lap band surgery? Another friend of ours just had the procedure done--he lives in Wisconsin and he was only in the hospital 27 hours. I hope he does good and loses the weight he wants to. This to me seems like a very drastic measure though, and I am very apprehensive about these type of procedures.

Well, let me get some reading done here. Hope this finds everybody well. Bea

From what I've heard that surgery has saved many a life of the morbidly obese, but it defintely is not an easy fix & can have serious complications. Hopefully, your friend will be a success story & have the easiest possible recovery.

I'm sorry that you've lost a friend. The death of a friend is sad...so young. I agree with Martha about health care in this country & the money that should be spent here rather than in other countries.

Enjoy lunch with the "girls"! You certainly do keep busy! Cal
