DH and I will probably go to AL tomorrow to see what needs to be done over there. I dread it; there's no escaping the fact that something will need doing, even if it is only to mow the grass.

I think it was Bea who asked about our place there. It's a very plain, utilitarian outfit. We bought a second-hand mobile home and DH refinished the inside before we moved it. It's only 56 miles from this doorstep to that one, and the last 20 minutes of the trip is over a very bad, unpaved road. We've gone over there on weekends or for a day or two at the time. Even after we've retired, we don't seem to have the time to spend there. The lake is a beautiful one; it's too bad that other people are finding it too rapidly. There are times when the water is getting too crowded; or is it just because we had it to ourselves for several years? Some of the boaters are downright dangerous, and don't seem to care about the laws. I'd better get off of that soapbox or this message will never end.

I'm leaving some homemade peanut butter cookies on the countertop; ya'll come on in and help yourselves. The beverages are in the 'fridge. See ya'll after the Memorial Day holiday. Have a good time with your families, and do take a little time to remember the people who made the ultimate sacrifice to make us free. lottie77

Yes Lottie, it was I that asked about your place. It sounds heavenly and like such a beautiful getaway. Our place at the lake is even closer than yours, only about a 30 minute ride, right off the highway but by the time we go by the cranberry bog and up our little street we are right on the lake also and you wouldn't even know the highway existed. We have neighbors and the places are set fairly close, and I wouldn't have thought of even buying this place if it wasn't waterfront. All the others live there year round and we are the only ones that leave for the winter. Ours is a regular year round home and I consider it small although many people think otherwise. I think it's only because in comparison to my home here in the city it is quite a bit smaller and I do notice the difference. Many people thought we bought it to retire in, which was not our original intent, but one never knows what the future will hold.

DH is working and doing maintenance right now to this old barn, as we're hanging around waiting for the roofer. Now, with all this rain we have been having I'm thinking that it's going to be a lot longer than the original month that he quoted as an estimate to when he would get to our job.

Oh well, nothing we can do about it. Hope you find everything fine at your other place. DH already cut the grass once at the lake, so we're one up on you for that one! Hugs. Bea
