Hi Friends,

Bright & early this morning had the kind of phone call you hope you never get. A grandson (Darb's nephew) was in a car accident last night & is in the hospital in La Crosse, Wis. ( this is near the s. w. border of Wis.) This grandson & 1 friend were badly bruised but the 3rd boy in the car didn't make it. The only good news is that Chris wasn't driving & no alcohol was involved. This was a senior party as the class Chris is in is to graduate next Sat. We are just thankful that Chris will recover but it is a pretty rough thing to handle. Guess it tells all of us to live for the moment & be grateful for it, right? Talk to you all later but thank you for letting me get some of this off my chest. Hugs, Velma

It is so sad to hear about the boy who died. This is a horrible way to learn a lesson about safe driving. I hope your GS and the other boy don't suffer too much from this traumatic experience. Sad experience tells me that there will be nightmares that accompany their dreams. lottie77

Tanks for the kind words! Hopefully his mind will be able to heal as well as his body will. Maybe he will be able to go home from the hosp. today. It's pretty hard for a 17 yr. old to understand how he survived an accident that killed his friend. Time should take care of both the physical & mental dammage. Later, Velma

Velma, every parent's nightmare! (I have 2 teenage granchildren (13 & 14), who are already talking about driving & just the thought frightens me.) Prayers for all concerned. Cal

Velma, I am very sorry about the accident and the death involved, thank heavens your GS is alright. This will be very hard for him to cope with, he may end up with some counseling to help him understand. Even as an adult, I find it difficult to realize and cope with some of the tragedies we are faced with. You take care, Velma, and have faith and trust. There is a lot to be thankful for here, as sad as it all is. Hugs. Bea
