hi ladies, been babysitting kids here so for the last two days it was zoo days and today mr.dick and i were bumming around walmart, sams club and steins. my rose of sharon bush that i planted last year died,so we went and bought two more in hopes that they take.saved the receipts this time just in case they bite the dust!! does anyoe know anything about this bush,im wondering if its too cold here for them, but i do see them around the neighbords and they are beautiful.have you been hearing about the monkeypox we have here being spread by prarie dogs which were infected by an imported afraican rat!!!eccccccccck!! who in their rite mind would want a rat as a pet!! but anyway that flea market we always go to,sold some of those prairie dogs.lots of pretty sick people, some ended up in the hospital with sores all over them.its scarey, now they want to give out the smallpox vaccine to those who have become infected.i tell ya its sounds like a government conspiracy just to get rid of that vaccine!! am i a cynic or what?? LOL ((hugs))mindy

With the world getting so small we will get all kinds of weird things.
You have a nice bunch of birds too. I used to love them when we lived north. The swans are so graceful.Had a couple come to our house one winter and they are so pretty. The malard is all over, and pretty too.
Guess you had a good shopping day.wish you luck with the rose of Sharon. My neighbor in NJ had one and it to was beautiful. Don't think NJ gets quite as cold as you do.martha
I agree with all these strange things going on all around us. There has to be source behind it.
Feel sorry for those people who think they are getting a "pet."
Stay well,
Jackie
I have a Rose of Sharon in the front of the house that does real well but the ones I planted in the back bit the dust. Maybe they don't like too much sun. Oh, just looked it up in one of my books. They like good garden soil and lots of water. The ones I planted in back were where the hose doesn't reach and obviously Mother Nature didn't water them enough! LOL! If you fertilize it or add compost to the soil and water it it should do fine.
Happy planting.
