Well, that was an easy decision!

Gosh Becky, your garden sounds terrific, and to be getting cucumbers and tomatoes already. Even the farmers up here at late in planting because the weather has been so bad.
Martha, I hear you on the pontoon boat. We are on a "pond" which other people tell me it is a lake because it has 7 miles of shoreline, and those pontoons are so popular here. We have an I-O 21' PennYan sitting out of commission because DH hurt his hand and was going to do a small job on repairing some wood (even though it is mostly glass, there was wood in the deck area that rotted), so that was taken apart and never fixed. There it sits, in our driveway, covered up. We also have a sailboat that draws too much water even though it has a swing-away keel. We used to be saltwater people and this pond business is a whole new experience for us, but we have adapted to the fresh water and find it less as far as household maintenance goes. Well, anyway, the sailboat is also sitting on the lawn, unable to use it because this is not a deep pond. These were both great saltwater boats. We miss the boating terribly, and do have just a small Javelin which he and I go out on when he feels up to sailing and his hand is behaving. It seems to be getting less and less though and we are sort of becoming landlubbers. I did a real no-no yesterday, and your post just brought it back to me how bad I was--I couldn't stand my hair yesterday, it was shaggy and I was mad at the world, so "I cut it"! Enough about that, although it did come out kind of cute and I can wear it on the straight now that all perm is gone.
Oh Mindy, stay away from those prairie dogs. Enough problems without all that garbage going on too. Yes, you wonder if they are just trying to get rid of the vaccine. And anybody with a compromised immune system has been warned not to take this vaccine. We have seen an awful lot of skunks by the side of the road, hit by cars I guess. I am wondering why they are all coming so close to the houses and neighboring surroundings. It seems we know they are there, but something is happening to make them come out and search for food so close to the homes.
Darby, it certainly sounds like your busy! I bet that rock garden will be beautiful when you get done with it. I used to take care of my grandmother's rock garden when I was younger and it was my pride and joy. I don't know what's happened to me because the most I do now is a few hangers and DH takes care of the outside. This little piece of property is set in tiers and he has a hard enough time cutting the grass from tier to tier, has to lift the lawn mower from one to the other, so keeps his muscles (haha) in shape. I have 3 Gloxinia hangers that I started up again, they are an every year thing with me, and they grow so fast and the flowers are so beautiful when they come out. Once in awhile it gets too windy here though and it breaks the stems.
Oh Cal, how wonderful to have 2 of the GC stay overnight. I can hardly wait for our family get-together and hoping it will come about this summer as last summer was the first year that we didn't all get here. Between teenagers planning other trips, surgeries, and jobs--well, you know how it is. I'm really looking forward to seeing everybody again. Glad you live close enough to be able to see your "little ones". Whoops, I just read about your fathers emergency, hope this all works out. :-(
Jackie, I'm wishing you well with the new move and happy that your condo sold so fast for you. It's quite a job to get ready to move and decide what to keep, toss out or give away. Glad that you will be nearer to your family, and hopefully DH will adapt to the new surroundings and find things easier for him. Good luck and may it all go well.
Martha, I am also a Red Hat Society member. Go to WalMart and they have the red hats there for about $4.24, you can dress it up with flowers, etc. I honestly think that my chapter no longer exists because nobody bothered to renew it and I think it has to be renewed every year. There is another local chapter, very active, here at the lake, but I'm not too sure I want to get into it again. They are "very" active, and I sort of like my summer time not to be too scheduled, if you know what I mean.
Everybody, I've been hanging on this computer too long, have gotta' go. Hi to everybody else and hope everybody has a good day! Diana, Lottie, Betty, Doreen, Rosemary, and please, if I've forgotten anybody it certainly wasn't intentional. Hugs to all. Bea

Don't you just hate it when age makes you give up some things?I am happy that my dh had the good sense to sell the RV, even though he is still a very good driver, but for a man 76 to be pulling a 28 foot trailer with todays traffic is asking for trouble. The boating--that was health. So now I'll be able to be real silly with my red hat. So far the ladies have not found anything around here $10 or under.
I've learned to say no when I don't want to do something.A fiend once told me she was too old to spend her time where she didn't want to.Not enough left!martha
We started a 'Purple Hat' society in this town. There are usually purple ones on the sale tables at the end of the season. We've gradually gotten enough to go around. Everyone just buys whatever is available, then we either give them or are re-imbursed for the purchase price. It's fun anyway. We had a great time in one of the restaurants, and when one of the men got up to leave, he stopped and said he hadn't had so much fun at lunchtime in years. lottie77
