Greetings from Gdansk, Poland!

I finally have the time to log on to the board - just did a quick run-down of the outline view, but know I've missed out on a lot of your "doings". I'm taking a day off from tours - DH and the other couples we are with are off slogging through the rain today, seeing Gdansk, but I cancelled my tour and chose to stay on the ship and relax. This touring is exhausting work - and I needed a break from "constant togetherness". We have seen some wonderful places - loved Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki. St. Petersburg has been a beautiful place - and hopefully will be able to bring it all back to it's former glory, but right now a lot of it is very seedy and in need of repairs. We went to the Hermitage - absolutely the best and grandest art museum in the world - that was worth the trip! Also saw the winter palace (one of them) and had a great time there. The weather has not been great - lots of rain and cold weather. Yesterday we were in Tallin, Estonia - a wonderful medieval city and had a great walking tour. 3 hours of walking over cobblestones - and I was freezing. I had on a tee shirt, hooded sweatshirt, and a fleece jacket - and was still cold! So - even though I would like to have seen Gdansk, I chose to be lazy today. It's nice to have the ship to myself, practically. I'll go have a swim soon - the pools are heated - and there are hot tubs too - so even though it's a miserable day - I can enjoy the pool.

I hope all of you are doing well - didn't see any real problems as I scanned the posts. Tomorrow we will be at sea all day - so another rest day, but with DH around he will keep me "doing" things. On Wed. we will be in Oslo - which should be another lovely place - then back to Copenhagen and our flight to Oxford on Thursday. I'll be ready to head home - ready for some normalcy again, whatever that is!

I'll be catching up with you next week, hopefully. Rosemary

Hi Rosemary! I'd love to take that cruise someday, but hopefully in warmer weather! lol! Dh has been to a few of those places on business but that's one area I haven't visited with him. Have to do that one of these years before he retires.

Good to hear from you again!

Hugs, Darby

Boy, it sounds like the trip of the lifetime! I know I'll never get to see those places so next time I am going to hide in the corner of your suitcase and hope that I make it through customs. (wink) Have fun, enjoy the pool, and I know your going to have a lot of good lifetime memories. Bea

Oh my, I feel like I have just been on more of your tour with you. It is so fun to hear about all the places you have been and things you are doing. I think it sounds like you made an excellent choice to stay on the ship today though. I hope we will get a chance to hear more about your next few days.

Stay dry and warm..Becky

Thanks for the armchair tour! You don't know how much your descriptions mean to those of us who can't get very far from home. We'll be looking for more informative posts when you get home. lottie77
