Saturday we had the town parade celebrating their 150th birthday. Being a city girl, it was a lot of fun to join in all the festivities and watch all the floats go by. Quite different than a city parade--had lots and lots of local talent and tractors, farm horses, etc. They also shipped in some Clydsdales although we do have a Clydesdale stable not to far from here and I understand it is open for people to visit, so think I would like to do that someday. The Shriners were on their little golf carts painted to look like fire engines because it was our local fire dept. that sponsored and got this whole thing together. Anyway, it was the very first day that the sun came out and it warmed up to 75º--phew, it felt like a heat wave.

Well, about 4 p.m. we decided to cut out and had our friends (Cuzzin Merrill and Claire) come back and sit on the deck with us. I fixed shrimp cocktails and then meatball subs for supper, with an ice cream sundae made of bananas, homemade cranberries, chocolate sauce and whipped cream over the ice cream. They were so excited about this "new dessert" to them and she decided that she was going to start cooking up more cranberries. And, to be known, we are right in the middle of cranberry country with bogs all around us.

Father's Day was not raining but threatening all day. DH cut the grass here at the lake, gathered up our trash for this mornings trash pickup at home, and we took a ride home so that he could put that out plus he cut the grass there too. Thank goodness he has a riding mower for at home because he came in absolutely pooped. His big Father's Day supper was hotdogs! Oh my, am I bad or what? But I did tell him that I was taking him out for dinner but really didn't feel like going out Father's Day as it might be crowded and neither one of us in the mood to wait in line. So, some night this week, he will get a nice seafood plate somewhere, as that seems to be his craving lately. He is so happy that we have more and more towns going nonsmoking as that enables him to be able to eat out like other humanoids do. We didn't eat out for 18 years because of this problem, and it really does make one have cravings for some food that is not normally made at home.

Well, on with my day. It's only in the 60's here. We are having a late start, but think we will be out in the car soon just to get a different view. The lake is very cold and mad looking today, the water almost looks black and very mean.

A good day to all. Hugs. Bea

Bea, I love to be by water regardless of its personality! I can't wait until my vacation by Lk. MI. next month.

The parade you attended sounds like the ones we have. The children love it, as does DH. The high school bands & those wonderful Shriners are a must!

Wishing you some sun today! Cal

It seems as if all of the restaurants are going completely non-smoking here. DH and I don't smoke, but we liked to non-smoking sections because they weren't as inhabited as the smoking sections. We'll be losing that edge on seating. lottie77
