I plan on a lazy day.We went to church and had breakfast out. Nice little very clean place. In the winter you can't get near it on a Sunday. Now, we have our roads and our retaurants back. Now, I do love the snowbirds. They keep our taxes down.

The only thing I must do is walk a dog for a friend.

OH, all set for a Nov. vacation with my dd.It is so exciting--it is so expensive! Our dollar is worth less and less.I'm going for it though, see too many of my friends having things, health things, croup up and take the joy out of their life.Rosemary I hope is going to give me tips on overseas travel.Cal too I believe is a world traveler.Am I right cal?Any of you with knowledge on where I'm going, feel free to give advice.martha

I wish, Martha! I just travel for long periods of time in the U.S., but not the world. You're right...that "someday" should be asap...too many examples of what happens when one waits for the right time! I'm excited for you & with the Internet you can get so much info about the places you'll be going...do take advantage of it.

Enjoy your "lazy day"! Cal

Dear Martha - I don't know how much info I can give you. I wonder about your travel arrangements into London - are you coming into Gatwick or Heathrow? There are express trains from both airports - the one from Gatwick goes into Victoria Station, which is very close to your hotel area, and would be a short cab ride there. The Heathrow express goes into Paddington Station - in the northern part of the city - so would be a hefty cab fare to the "eye". If you are traveling on a tour package, this may all be provided.

I think my favorite place in London is the Tower of London. Have been there several times - went once by myself and had a wonderful time just wandering around and talking the the guides, etc. It has the crown jewels, the chopping block where famous heads have rolled, a wonderful selection of armor, the Beefeater guards, etc. And, it's right on the river, so it's lovely. I also love the National Gallery, and the National Portrait Gallery - right next to each other in Trafalgar Square. We loved the tour of Buckingham Palace - but it is only open in the summer - so you will miss that. Also - Westminster Cathedral is a must - take the tour or you miss a lot. There are lots of walking tours - advertised by pamphlets in all the hotels, etc. I've taken a couple and found them to be really fun, sort of the insider's view of London. One place I've never been, DH has and thinks it's interesting, is Greenwich. You can get a boat ride there - but lots to see there. Also Hampton court Palace, which is a train ride from Waterloo Station, has wonderful gardens, the palace is great, the first indoor tennis court is there, etc. DD spent 3 years there studying textile conservation, so I've been there a few times.

So - too much to see and too little time. Lots of choices. Email me if you have any specific questions. Rosemary
