My DDIL and DGC already have the meds for the cat allergies for when they visit with us. They still suffer a little, but they start using them right away and can get through the visit fairly well. The problem is that all 3 DGC (even the 17 yr. old) want to pat Sammi' cat so much--when we've gotten up in the mornings with their past visits, there they are, all three of them sitting in a circle around Sammi' and finally when one of us adults get up we invariably get the question "Can I pat her?" We usually say yes, and then go wash your hands immediately. I just can't imagine what it's like not to really know what it's like to feel the beautiful feel of a cat's fur. Of course, Sammi' cat is just as afraid as she is not used to children at all, and when cat's are nervous they shed, and shed, and shed. We always think she will go bald before they are gone, but it doesn't quite happen.
All their bedding, I keep special wrapped in those big zipper storage bags and don't take anything out until they are almost here, and then I even cover the whole bed with another covering in case she decided to inspect what's going on--you know how nosey cats are. And I warn them to put everything up high, on the bureaus and hang clothes--I don't know what else I can do. My son doesn't have allergies, or at least never did, but I think after he watches his family for a few days he feels like he's got the same symptoms also. Grrrrrr, and on with life! Bea
