DH smashed his hand with the sledge hammer yesterday while he was putting the dock in. the dock is in completely now and it's just general cleanup in the yard where it sat all winter. He was in agony last night, but he is up and about this morning with a very swollen hand and he doesn't think he broke anything, just chipped a knuckle or two.

Lake very calm today, not a ripple. Already a lot of party barges and water skiiers out there. Getting ready for the 4th of July celebration and wondering if there will be any fireworks around the lake this year. This is something we never know from year to year. We don't have any plans as our family in NY always gets together with the in-laws, and usually our other son is working a shift. Last year he was off so we went up but haven't heard anything about his year yet.

After yesterday being such a hard day of work around here, and then we showered and went to see our friend who is now in nursing/rehab center. Her prognosis isn't very good. I knew she had 2 strokes and when I called to say "hi" to her only then discovered that she had the 3rd stroke. We went to see her and what a shock I had. She always kept her hair just so and dressed to the hilt, always a wonderful person and always, always, helping somebody else above and beyond. Her DH is wheelchair ridden for the past 30 years, he is a very big man and she was a smaller and short woman, so I'm sure this didn't help her any. She couldn't talk, but she did smile at us--her hair is totally white now--she just isn't the same Joyce on the outside, but she has the same loving heart and emotions as the Joyce we knew before.

A good day to all. Hugs. Bea

Hope as the day goes on it gets better. The lake sounds so nice. I love just sitting and enjoying a view such as that.

Poor hubby, smashing his finger.Doing too much without a break?

How sad it is to see those we care for change so much with illness.I know she must have felt so good that you came.Too many times people are forgotten once they reach that stage. You certainly made her day I'm sure. Who's taking care of her dh? martha

Oh Bea, I hope your DH's hand is OK! That's one thing about our lake adventures; I'm afraid something will happen to one of us that requires medical help. Our place isn't in a very populated town, and the Drs. that come there are just 'working off' their school loans. They've borrowed money on the promise that they will practice in a small town. They are there for about four years and then they are gone. Best wishes to you both. lottie77
