We ended up going to DS#1's place, and he worked a shift until 4 p.m.--walked in the door and took a quick shower, took the meat out of the fridge and proceeded to start the cookout and was off until 7 p.m. at which time he showered again, back into uniform and on the job for the night. We stayed a few more hours to watch the kids roast marshmallows and see a few of their fireworks but they saved the best part until a night that DS would be home to enjoy them also. It was terribly hot, but we enjoyed just being with the family.
My granddaughters, ages 14 and almost 12, have a golf cart and they took me for a ride up and down the driveway, which is quite long; but you know kids! They get bored with the same route, so there we are sitting on the edge of the street and Lisa says "Hey Grammy, want to go up the street?" Well, there we were cruising the drag, they live on a side street, but of course I'm sure this is illegal. Anyway, the school yard isn't too far from there, so after going up the street, onto the sidewalk, whoops--she did a good job missing that tree, and then down a hill with another tree in front of us (was that my heart I heard pounding), and a swift turn to avoid this tree--well, it was fun. We stopped to shift into reverse, and there is Uncle Frankie on his motorcycle sitting in the distance just checking out if everything is all right with Grammy Bea and the girls.
It was fun, as illegal as it was--all the time I'm thinking that bikers have to wear helmets, car passengers have to wear seat belts, and here we are just hanging on to the side! I know, I know, bad grammy here, I should have put my foot down and said
"no", but they knew that I would enjoy it, and being the bad girl that I am, I loved every minute of it.
Then, they showed me all their dives in the swimming pool, and the water balloon fight was the greatest, I loved every drop of water that I got because it was so hot. DH wasn't much fun that day--just because he smashed his finger with the sledge hammer putting the dock in and it was hurting--he's been sort of grumpy. That's his nickname anyway--"Grumpy".
Well, I've bored you long enough. Hope everybody is alright. Went to Rosemary's Room last night and the pictures are nice Rosemary, thanks for sharing. Think I'll take just one or two folders in at a time so as to get to know and remember who is who and what we all look like. Hugs to all. Bea

Sounds like you have fun with all the dgks. Can't wait for that day!
