DH bought me a new microwave. We have the Spacemaker over the stove, but also have a small unit on the counter. Here at the lake I many times use the both of them to get a meal together, especially if we have company. Well, the counter unit was acting up, a few times didn't work, DH fiddled around with the door, etc., and I thought that it was working alright, but he didn't trust it. So, here it is--the new microwave is now in place. The first thing I did was 2 ears of fresh corn that I always do in the mircrowave--and they were the toughest darn things. Yuck. So, reading directions, this one has 1100 watts against the old 550 that we just replaced, and the Spacemaker has 750 which I always thought was terrific. So, now I'm learning how to cut down time and use this one--speak of confusion! This brain is getting old--2 minutes for a baked potato against the 4 minutes in the old, corn--about 2-3 minutes an ear instead of 4 minutes each, etc. Yikes, between micros and 'puters, I'm bound to learn something new yet!
LOL!
Have a good day. Hugs to all. Bea

I still have my very first microvwave also--it's over 30 yrs. old at least, I'm trying to figure how old my boys were when we got it and they were just about 7 or 8 and now it's almost 40 years later. It's a Panasonic, have it connected down cellar at home. When I had ceramic classes there it came in handy for coffee and dessert--and now I stilluse it occasionally if I need a 2nd one at home. It has only a 10 minute timer--that's it. No power settings, but of course can cook for a shorter than 10 minute time if I want to. All stainless steel--a good little oven! Bea
