We never observed Mother's/Father's Day with our DS - too commercial, so I don't expect anything. But - instead they both called and talked with me a long time, so that's way better than any gift they could give. I'm sure the DILs insist they do SOMETHING, as there is always a big deal going on in their families. DH and I had a quick breakfast at Steak & Shake and laughed at the families dragging in reluctant, sleepy teens for the obligatory meal with Mom. One kid just ordered a coke and was sullen thru the whole meal. That must have made Mom feel real good. We headed to Menards to check out sale on generators - DH has been wanting a bigger one for when the power goes out (not often, but he wants POWER). We did find the generator, started looking at electronic door knobs and he really got into the idea. We now have an electronic deadbolt (has a keypad + key hole) for the backdoor that we use a lot, plus regular deadbolt and new lever handles on both doors to match. I want to be able to lock and unlock the door quickly when I am working in the yard and he is in the basement. Lever handles will help a lot when my arms are full, plus I notice old Arthur Itis is making my hands a little stiff these days - LOL.
Weather is clear today and Tues, so I need to get cracking on yard work before the next wave of rain.
