You want to be outside and It rains

Ladies:

Did you ever notice that when you have a lot planned to do outside it rains.  Not just a little bit either, but a down pour.  So, I have spent the day working inside wishing I was outside instead.

Got the ironing done.  I know, I iron, can't help it.  At least I don't iron the t-towels or the sheets any longer.  This is just something held over from my childhood.  My DGrnM always claimed clothes look better pressed. To her it ok to wear older clothes as long as they were clean & ironed to look neat. She also said hard work never killed anyone, but that one I do question.  So on this wet and rainy day, I ironed.

Guess it is better than painting.  Still looking for a warm day to paint our bedroom, so far it is too wet and cold to paint.  Paint doesn't set well up here in the PNW if it is wet or cold.  Right now it is both.  I am really looking forward to spring.

That's how my day will be on Weds - the rain has begun here in mid-IL. I did finish the 2nd half of the housewashing today before it got cloudy. So on Weds, I will take down and wash bedroom drapes, plus clean the blinds.

I'm also still doing old-fashioned chores. This week it has been window/blind/curtain cleaning. At least I don't need to stretch the curtains after they were starched, the way my DGrM did. When I was a kid and visited on weekends, I knew I was a big girl when she allowed me to help put the curtain edges on the pins. BUT - no blood allowed on the clean curtains, so fingers needed to be placed very carefully. My DSis is a professional seamstress and has convinced me that clothes do look a lot better when presses and creased. I meet her halfway - I press "good" everday clothes, the stuff I wear to go away from the house shopping, etc. But not the stuff I work around the house in. My summer uniform is a clean colored Tshirt for each day, plus stretch Capri pants. I can't master a steamer the way DSis does, but have a new TFal steam iron that also works vertical. The vertical feature is great for drapes after they are hung up.

Gotta check in with Dancing with the Stars to see who gets eliminated.

I agree with you DSis, clothes do look better pressed. I too love to wear Capri's at home.

Weds was cool and damp, so no outdoor work again. I tackled the bedroom windows and drapes. Worst part was the vinyl tilt out windows wouldn't slide very much. DH decided that the house has settled more and windows are out of square. Can't change the windows, but he said lubricating the tracts would help. So off we go to the hardware store. He was looking for something he saw on This Old House, but no luck. Clerk found an equivalent and DH laughed - he bought a full tub of the stuff last month when he was working on his Harley! Back home, spent an hour working on this, but they do slide nice now. Got the last drape hung at 9:30 PM. I was tired and slept really well last night.

Today is an outing with DGrD to look at patterns/fabric for dresses for her 2 girls to wear at the wedding. I know the 4 yr old will want something like a "princess" dress, but the 8 mo old will want anything she can chew on - LOL.
