Ten points for Tuesday

Tuesday turned out to be such a disaster that I thought I would try to put it all here.
- We left the lake at 5 a.m., arrived home and got all the yard work and laundry caught up, barrels out for rubbish, and at 9 a.m. we were sitting on the front porch having a cup of coffee and a light breakfast. That was the best part of the whole day.
- About 15 minutes later our neighbor about 4 houses away from us was putting his barrels out and noticed us and waved--these people are very good friends of ours, and then he went in the house which I thought was odd as they usually say "let's get together". For some reason, I had second thoughts about calling, something told me not to.
- About 10 minutes after that our friend that waved called, and said "hi" and then got silent. OMG, I asked him if everything was alright and he said no. My mind racing, what happened, I know his wife hasn't been well and I was afraid of what he was going to say. Well, it turned out that "they had another car accident" and the "they" was really "her" as she was out alone.
- She totaled the car, but she wasn't hurt. Supposedly another car went into her, but she pulled out in front of the other car and didn't even see it, and the other two people in the other car went to the hospital.
- Her DH asked if he could come down and talk to my DH about this, and then he asked if I would go and talk to the wife. Of course, of course, no problem with that, but she couldn't face my DH because sometimes he speaks the truth very bluntly. She was so depressed over this she couldn't face my DH so I told DH briefly as I was going out the door to just agree and do what he was asked to do and forget what we have seen how she drives--ya' know, through red lights and finally totaled his car about a month ago on that accident, through stop signs, doesn't signal, and DH has tried to tell her DH but he wouldn't do anything about it.
- She cried and cried and cried when I got there, I told her it was alright, not to worry, main thing she is alright and let's hope the other people are alright, and she said she handed her keys over to her DH and said she will not drive again. I finally consoled her the best I could, she had sat two days in a stupor and her DH couldn't do anything with her or even talk to her, and he right now is also very depressed.
- We stayed 5 hours with them, DH offered to take him to the police station for the report, offered to take him to the dealership for them to look over the car, DH looked at it himself and the front axle is bent and the wheel was bad so DH changed it to the spare tire, and our friend would not let us take them on their errands or anything at all.
- Well, long story short, we left. We went shopping, came home and the rubbish truck was 4 doors down the street from our house and they put a red sticker on our ashbarrels and said they were too heavy too lift. They emptied 2 ashbarrels, and left 6 still full. I was furious, told DH to wait here in the driveway, and I ran helter skelter (yeah, I can still run pretty good) down the street like a raving maniac telling them to wait, and yeah, they ignored this crazy lady and moved the truck. I caught up with them and asked them what gives. Well, they said the barrels were too heavy. The driver, 300 lbs at least said he wasn't going to throw his back out, the worker, 99 lbs soaking wet said he couldn't lift the barrels either. I told them they better get back to my house or else. Driver said he would call the superintendent, and he did.
- I went back to the house, got the car and followed the truck around the corner and there he was with a pick up truck backed up to his rubbish truck and emptying all kind of leaves and yard waste into it. I boxed him in, sat behind the wheel of the car and took pictures. LOL! When they were finished I asked the man in the pick up who he was, he was the superintendent and he was going back to my house. I went to the driver and said what do they intend to do, he said they were going back to my house. O'kay, back I go to my house also. Got out of the car, questioned if he was the superintendent as he was giving my DH a hard time about this, and I stood there and took his picture. All of a sudden, he got quiet, the truck came down the street, and I picked up one barrel and told the fat driver and skinny worker that I am a 70 year old lady and I can pick up these barrels. Duh, driver tried to apologize, superintendent tried to apologize, and I cornered the supervisor and asked him why he could empty his leaves that way as I intend to get a pick up truck and follow the truck and dump them like he did, and he said I couldn't do that, so I said he shouldn't do that either. If any more trouble, the mayor will hear me long and loud.
- A lot happened in between the above and what I now have to say, but we didn't get back to the lake until 8 p.m. and the phone rang just as I got in. It was my neighbor again, they are the parents of my Godson who got married a year ago this past March. They had just lost the baby!
Oh man, could it get any worse. What a rotten day.
Hugs to all.

Bea
what a day you have had, you are one gutsy lady, and could of got hurt chasing that truck down the street.
Ok the lady friend that sent people to the hospital is feeling sorry for herself I guess. Verns mom was a terrible driver and had 7 wrecks in one year, she always totaled the cars. The last time she had a wreck, she turned in front of a VW and sent this kid to the hospital and all she could do was bitch that the cops were not treating her very nice and paying all attention to the kid that was knocked out. She said "MY SONS WORKED FOR THE SHERIFF'S DEPT' you can't treat me this way. Vern and the cops took her licence
