Here We Go Again

The radar shows that another area of storms is headed our way.  Looks like it's in Iowa & Minnesota right now.  Ruth, how are you doing?  I guess Wisconsin & Illinois are next.  Hang on Mindy, Darby, Jacquie.  I think we're in for it again.

The water level has gone down somewhat around here and they've opend some roads that were covered.  Thankfully we've had two days without much precip.  There still are problems with some dams and bridges that might not hold under the water pressure.  My boss' daughter has her house surrounded by sandbags and has pumps inside the ring of bags to try to keep the water out of the house.

Did you see the reports of the tornado at the boyscout camp in Iowa?  So tragic.  I'm so afraid of tornados.  I pray that this storm system will be over soon.

Mother Nature smiled on us for our 2 day trip to St Louis. Thursday was hot and sunny, but the rising rivers gave us no problem. The Miss. is really running fast though, and they expect one of our favorite river towns to be under wanter in about 10 days. The last of the floating casinos in StL was closed. Temps dropped overnight and Fri was in low 80s with early morning sprinkles. We went to a new casino and liked it better than any of the others. The layout is just better. I broke even, but we enjoyed being on the balcony and watching the table games. As is our usual plan, we ate in local eateries, not chain places. Good food, very nice folks. It turned out our hotel was near an indoor shooting range, so we checked them out. Wound up renting a pistol and doing some target shooting. Most of the patrons were law officers getting practice - they were in awe of this old couple who can actually hit the target. One insisted on cleaning up the spent bullets on the floor for us - must have thought we couldn't handle the bending. We did go ballroom dancing to a live 11 pc band on Fri. PM and had a good time until I got a blister on a foot. I tried to avoid putting on pantyhouse and wore footlets. Big mistake, as the edge rusted. The cats were glad to see us when we got home about an hour ago.
