Last Monday I met with my girlfriends from childhood days, and we all jumped into one car as one girl is always our driver, and we went to Cape Cod, a little town called Sandwich. We went to the Heritage Museum and Gardens in the town, and spent about 3 hours walking around looking at all the beautiful plants and shrubbery, also taking in the antique car museum, the merry go round which we all hopped on like we were still in our 20's and took about 3 rides as it was AC and we didn't want to move out. It was about one of the hottest days we have had so far, and we were all just wilting away. Saw the Pirate's museum and that was a lot of fun--hmmm, maybe I'll try to make a siggy with some of the pictures in it. Tried on clothes, spent time in the brig, etc. So much fun and we were just as silly as usual.
Went back to the car and had nice refreshing drinks of water, which was just the greatest. Then to the Tea House for lunch, an experience to unfold but in all actuallity we ended up going through the restaurant and right out the back door and sitting in a field with a tent over it as our eating quarters. At first we kind of laughed but then noticed the Red Hat groups in the same area, so guess they thought the old ladies would enjoy being out in the fresh air more than inside. We all ended up ordering chicken wraps, and all got some kind of chicken salad plates but we didn't bother saying anything but I can't really say that I enjoyed it. The company was great, the chicken had too much mayonaise on it--here I am complaining about the small things.
Then, the best part is to come. Back to the house of the girl that lives in Sandwich, and we had cake and coffee there. But, for the past 8 years they have befriended an ailing and hurt red tail hawk, which is now completely better, and comes to visit them everyday and is not afraid of them at all. It was so much fun watching her DH put the chicken wing on the short stick and the hawk would swoop down so fast and take it and fly off and eat it, then show up for a 2nd piece. It was just amazing how he would sit only about 10 feet from where the DH was working in the yard and just sit there and watch him. To me, that was the best part of the whole day, I just loved it and it was a challenge to get a picture of him, that was for sure.
Enough about Crazy 8 day--company was great and a good time had by all. We won't see each other now until our Christmas gathering of which we have already started making plans for.
I won't be here tomorrow at all, leaving early for home and the regular errands and jobs to get done in the morning and coffee with a neighbor, and at 4 p.m. we are going to a cook out in honor of a friend that just arrived from FLorida so don't think we will get home until late. Everybody, have a good day, hugs.
