If you've followed the saga you know that DH and youngest DS have not spoken since last Sept. This has caused me endless sadness, but I took myself out of the discussion long ago. So, I figure I'd better let you ladies in on the latest -

On Sunday afternoon DH and I were watching a movie after lunch when DS called to say that he was stopping over with family. I was very hesitant, not knowing how DH would react. DS assured me it would be fine. When I got off the phone I told DH and said I was really nervous. DH assured me he would not be nasty. So, for the next 2 hours I had a knot in my stomach and my lunch almost came up. They arrived and the 2 "bad gorillas" behaved as if nothing had ever happened! DDIL and I just shook our heads and smiled. I guess they both decided privately that they would agree to disagree on some issues and not offer unsolicited opinions (DHs biggest problem). It was hard to keep from crying, I felt such relief. I no longer must choose which family events to attend solo. Now the DGrDs can come to visit again - good for me as it's getting expensive for me to keep driving 20 miles to their town. They stayed for about an hour, then had to get home to pack eldest DGrDs things for Girl Scout camp this week. Believe me, I slept better last night than I had in ages. Oh - DH also slept 2 hours longer.

On the down side, we had a power outage for 4 hours and DH got to use his new generator. A storm with very little rain, but high wind blew threw and knocked over some trees on power lines. We kept the generator going, had a light on in the living room and both TV and DVD player running. Power was restored by bedtime, now DH needs to roll up the long extension cords running thru the house.

Must get busy and go for AM walk, then get ready for tutoring this afternoon.

Oh Jacquie what a great Father's Day gift and maybe a belated Mother's Day gift as well!!
I hope the weather is kind to you today and you can put the generator away for a long time, but what a handy thing to have when you need it!
Enjoy your joy :-)

Jacquie, I just read this now and I am so happy for you and the family that your DS had the fortitude to call and say he was coming over for a visit.
