You may remember that our DGrDs fiancee had an accident in which 2 motorcyclists were killed. The coroners jury ruled it as an accident. He was insured. All evidence confirmed his admission that he dozed off. The guy must live with this every day of his life, but gets up every day, puts on his pants, goes to work and is a loving man to his girls at home.

I open the local Sunday payer and there is a front page story on 3 issues involved with the accident, plus a big color picture of his car. One issue is that the other families have medical bills that are way beyond his pretty high insurance level and their insurance is dragging their feet paying. Another issue was that the deputy or hospital personnel did not feel it necessary to do blood or urine tests on our guy and the officials think that should have been done as routine. Deputy was new and inexperienced. Third issue was that there is a bill in our State legislature to make any accident fatality require jail time, plus big fine.

I have no problem with these issues being brought up, but sensationalizing it with pictures and the front page seems overkill. I'm just furious and want to write a letter to the author and chew her out. The accident was months ago, not news that needed to be revisited again. Everyone familiar with the accident has agreed that it could have happened to any of us. We all have times when we feel drowsy, but have been lucky enough to miss such a tragedy. I can't count the times I've gotten sleepy and pull off into a rest area to nap.

Grrrr.

Jacquie, it's such a sad case all the way around. I often wonder what the newspaper editors are thinking when they "sensationalize" tragic situations...only selling more papers? I pray that your young man is able to get through this..."But for the grace of God...". Cal
