have been AWOL...we were away..Aug 1-10..Outer Banks, NC....across the street from the beach...wonderful! beach, pool, kayak tour...didn't want to leave!
we got back Sun....then Mon-Tues we had the dgds...one, I needed to see them, I was having "dgd withdrawal" and, two, ds and dil were having carpet installed and needed to move furniture
Tues I took them to "Mommy and me"
yesterday was "eye -exam -pick-new-glasses "day
while away I sent back photos each day for them with one of their favorite characters,Pablo, featured wherever we went. They loved it..especially Pablo in the pool and Pablo with the bowl of hushpuppies. (ds was afraid people would think his mom was nuts...so?...but everyone enjoyed it..even our companions got into it!)
seems this week was all washing, putting away,etc..also yard work..
dd is in CA...I was happy to hear from her! Sun and Thurs...having a great time..San Francisco, Yosemite, AND ..she brought a Pablo with her too!! just got the first pics today!!
today we are going for eye exams...
I find being back this week I feel "at loose ends"....not sure why
Sunday is dgs christening....
so far: no baby turtles
will try to catch up with you all
oh..BOb had knee surgery July 17, arthroscopic...was well enough to bike in NC!!
hugs

Hey Dutch, nice to read your post.
thanks...it was a good vacation!
sort of adjusted now to being back
just got back from dgs christening and party
very nice!!
how nice your dgd did so much reading! it will pay off for her!
everyone has their own talents
if she hasn't read them, I recommend the "Sisterhood of the Traveling pants " series for teens
good young adult books

Sounds as if you had the perfect vacation. I get so tired of the Midwest in the summer - nothing to see but corn and soybeans, wish I could afford a place on a lake for a month.
I think this week will be a downer for me also. The youngest DGrDs are readying for school and there is no time for a "girls day" this week. That means my summer is effectively over also. Our last trip was to a children's museum and lunch at an outdoor cafe. They are just old enough (6 & 8) to enjoy sitting with the grownups and waving to cars that went by. Kids are so spontaneous. DDIL thought we were nuts because we had to change our table 3 times. Just had to get one out of the sun and away from the car exhaust. I do need to begin making the flower girl dresses for DGrGrDs, but the mess with the painters here have slowed me down. We were gone dancing and indoor target shooting over the weekend, so Mon & Tues will be laundry, grocery shopping and hopefully putting things back in order when the guys finish up. I admit I'm tired.
sounds like you had a good time with them anyway
you were busy , no wonder you are tired!
I wish you could get away to a lake too!
they are so peaceful

it had been so long since I was at the shore
as a kid I was there a lot
but we live in the mts
it is somehow "restorative" to be at the ocean and see the waves and the vast expanse
almost back to "normal"
WAIT! I mean normal for ME..LOL
