I love this state, but I hate the darn storms. Living in a mobile home means I have to leave and get somewhere safe. Had we known how bad the storms can get here we would have gotten a regular home. It's ONLY the storms that make it that way, and If they did a few things these places would be fine.Mine has gone through three bad hurricanes and one tornado. Now I just pray it outlasts me.
Tomorrow all the hurricane shutters will be in place. The suitcases are packed with papers and stuff, and I have a safe house to go to instead of the shelter. I'm a lucky lady.I've put away the lawn funiture and tables. Most of that I had planned to do next week as I was leaving. Now it's done early.
I'm looking around and trying to think what I want to take North. I'm sending a lot of my movies up that way since here I've so much to do here I don't need them. Then there are odds and ends that "do I need it here-- or there?"Most of the stuff you need in a home I was lucky enough to be able to get at the thrift. Actually I just bought a TV for my bedroom here at Goodwill. I didn't want to spend $200 on a new set for the bedroom and because of the change you can't get anything cheap. SOOOOO-- I picked up this little old set for $14 and it works great. I have cable so the change won't affect it.
Well, life goes on. I intend to enjoy-- martha

Martha, my sister, sister-in-law & I had so much fun shopping at Goodwill & the 2 local thrift shops recently! I always buy my books there & buy only those that look new. A book store here gives their over-stock to Goodwill, as does Target. So much of the merchandise still has tags on it.
I've been watching the weather channel & thinking of you. Hope all goes well. Let us know what happens...hopefully, it'll fizzle out before hitting land. Stay safe! Cal
Dear Martha,
I'm so glad you have a safe house to go stay in until this storm goes away. The death and damage in Haiti was dreadful.
I will be thinking of you as the storm nears the mainland.
Martha
please be safe, you sound like a very solid gal and ready for just about anything that comes your way. My dh would love to go goodwilling with you, he is a nut about such things. $14 tv can't beat that. Heck we have so many tv's he wouldn't miss one. His closet is full of tee shirts and pants and shorts he gets at thrift stores.
Betty L. Keep and Angel on your Shoulder & a prayer in your heart.

Yup- This is the price we pay to live here. Lots of warning to get out of harms way.
I'm in my house. It's just a bad storm-- as long as we don't get a tornado, and that can hit anywhere.
Since working in a thrift for years, I now always take a look. There is always the treasure to discover-
