A whirlwind couple of weeks

Hi all,
I don't remember when or what I posted last but we've had a busy couple of weeks. Ariana's 4th birthday party was so much fun. I was in charge of the craft portion. All her friends were so fun and well behaved. It was at a park with a nature center and the guide brought out snakes for the kids to handle. No fear for most of the 4 yr. olds. I petted the snakes but didn't go as far as holding them!
We then went to beautiful Door County WI for 4 days and dd, dsil and dgd went to FL Keys where it was hot and humid and Ariana was sick with flu part of the time. At least the hurricanes hadn't started yet. I've been thinking about you Martha and am glad you're packing for PA!
After all of us returned to IL we had a surprise party for dd's 40th birthday. It was a brunch at our Lodge and very nice. (If I've already reported this I apologize. Senility is setting in!!!)
I was home for 2 days and then went to an innsitting job only 30 minutes away. It is the most beautiful place and she gave me the nicest guest room to stay in. I felt like a queen. It wasn't real busy and it was fun hosting a newlywed couple carrying breakfast up to their room on their first day as husband and wife. I wish all my jobs were this wonderful. I actually learned how to use an AGA stove. Are any of you familiar with them? They are on all the time and each of the 4 ovens is at a different temp. Very interesting. I can put that skill on my resume now.
Glad to see Kaci and Dutch had such nice vacations. Cal, I had good intentions of meeting up with you this month but my innsitting got in the way. I start another job Friday for 10 days in Chicago. Unless you feel like taking a ride...
Dh retires in a month and a half! Yeah!!! My other news is that I and a friend started a spirituality group as we all want to learn more about meditation amd also grow spiritually. Does anyone meditate? I find it very relaxing.
After this job my 2 sisters and I have a weekend planned. So much going on but all good. I wish the same to all of you. Rosemary, I hope you're doing well.
Hugs,

Wow!
Sounds like your having a great time, as busy as you are.
Kaci, we didn't go to the Keys, just dd and family. I thought they were crazy to go there in August but dd wanted to spend her 40th bday on a beach. Our Door Co. stay was at the same time much more sensible IMHO! BUT you can't tell grown kids what to do.
Yes, we'll definitely innsit together after dh retires. I'm at
Actually, the theme of the party was "bugs" which Ariana loves. We didn't know the Naturalist based at the park was going to bring out snakes but the kids loved them.
Our dd did enjoy her party. There were friends there she hadn't seen in years and her grandparents even made the trip down. 40 doesn't seem to bother her. It didn't me either, 60 was hard, but now I know the 60's are great thanks to this board.
Enjoy your beautiful day!!!
Hugs,
Darby, summer is so short that there isn't enough time to do all we want. One of these days we'll get together...I wish it could be all of us...wouldn't that be amazing?!? I can't believe it's almost September! Two of my DGC have already started classes (college), so summer is over for them & soon will be for me...I go home Sept. 1st. Boo-hoo! Cal
wow..you have been busy!
sounds good though!
Arianna...4...like my Abby...what a fun age
so sorry she was sick with the flu
I used to meditate years ago...it often made me fall asleep..LOL..(sometimes I still use it as a sleep aid!) I found it was similar in the feeling I got when praying
all the best to dh on his retirement
I still am not 100% adjusted to it...still feel the need to be productive!..just not every day! LOL
hugs
