So Annoying

My ds-Jim is so upset.  Since he bought his house about 1-1/2 year ago, he's been working hard to get the lawn and yard nice.  This spring he put in a patio - all little blocks which he set himself in a very pretty pattern after putting in several layers of rocks, stones, course sand, and then finer sand.  His sisters came over to help and they did a beautiful job of it.  Then he had $400 worth of topsoil delivered which he used to contour the back yard around the patio and last Saturday he spent almost all day leveling, seeding, fertilizing, sprinkling on straw and setting out numerous sprinklers so they could water all the areas just by flicking a switch at the faucet and not have to walk all over it.  It looked so nice.  Last night some neighbor kids went running through it and kicked all the sprinklers and made a mess of his nice leveled surface.  He saw them do it and their mother just says "Oh well."  She's a teacher and doesn't seem to exert any control or sense of responsibility over her kids.  They're old enough to know better (somewhere around 11 to 13 years old).  I told him to report it to the police but he doesn't want to.  The neighborhood has had other problems with these kids and nothing is done about it when it is reported.  It's just so discouraging.

Kaci, I'm so sorry about the damage that the kids caused after all the hard work that your son did to improve his property.

Kaci, I'm surprised the mother is so uncaring about the damage her sons did...knowing that there's a consequence for every action! If his insurance will take care of the damage I think he'll need to report it to the police. How frustrating! Good luck to him. Cal
