The Labor Day parade goes down the street a block from our house and I can see it from my hobby room windows. Which is where I'll be, as the pollen and heat are high today. The street will be blocked shortly. When the DSs were young, we would walk up to the corner and wave flags. The parade was much smaller back then. It's great to see the trade floats, fire and police vehicles, all representing the people who keep this country running. They go from downtown out to a big park, then have an all day picnic. A fitting way to end the summer.
Back to sewing flower girl dresses. Much as I know about sewing, this pattern has been a puzzlement. I'm thinking someone didn't proofread the instruction sheet before printing. Luckily I've sewn enough that I can figure out what needs to be done. No wonder people don't home sew more!

Gets longer every year, so I'm glad I stayed indoors. Mostly union floats, HS marching band, American Legion marchers and lots of bikers with flags. No politicos, so it was very down home and low key. They throw candy to the kids, so that always brings out the crowd. I did see on the TV that the University non-Academic group marched for the first time. They have just unionized to get better pay for the teaching assistants. The TAs here do most of the work sometime....
The parade ended at a big park that was set up for all day events, free hot dogs, games, all paid for by union dues. Public was welcome to join in.
