summer has peaked

the flowers are drawn,

with mornings now dark

even robins have gone!

and taken with them

their songs and their young,

as now they fly south

another summer is done!

now onto autumn

as leafs start to turn,

into colors so vibrant

the reds actually burn!

the golds and the oranges

are sites to take in,

as the warm air turns cool

autumn..officially begins!

and here in my garden

i relished thru summer,

the blooms and the blossoms

the chimpmunks and hummers!

the foxes they came

and watched for a bite,

as chumpmunks ran quickly

afraid for their life!

joined by the hawk

as he floated on by,

with wings touching clouds

he covered the sky.

oh what a summer

i write with delite,

and share with you gladly

these sounds and these sites!!

its been a while since i posted. spent the summer with grandkids and gardening attached a couple of pics of the garden and one with my dgd in the bees balm. my garden has been a center of enjoyment and solace and although i shall miss it am looking forward to fall. things are cooling off here,im loving it. hugs mindy

hi kaci!! i loveeeeeeee this time of year...and were really not into the swing of fall yet,its just beginning..as you say the smells and the cool air we ve been having.if you can remember how the front and back yard were,it was mostly grass..well there is no grass either in the front or back anymore..its all garden...flowers vines an arbor is in the front and the back is filled with many different flowers as you can see!! the lots here in the city are small as you know but i filled each space i could with a plant. lots of bee balm..anise hyssop...butterfly bushes.a wild purple loosestrife that was given to me by our friend

Hi Minsy--loved your ode!! Your garden is really beautiful. I am lucky to keep a houseplant alive! My husband is the gardener and he has a green thumb. Our problem here is that the deer eat everything. We out foxed them though--my husband built planter boxes one one end of our deck railing that is too high for them to reach and the flowers are blooming beautifully--where there's a will there's a way LOL
Enjoy your fall weather--my favorite time of year!
Hugs,
Carol

Mindy the poem I was reading was in a magazine that my mother takes and she passes them on to me. It is called GOOD OLD DAYS and it has the best short stories often poems in it. The poem I was reading was titled "The Days Now Gone" If it wasn't longer than I feel like typing
