been to Sequoia National Park, I thought that you said once that you had. Its where the General Sherman tree is. We are burning, we have lost so far 800 acres and they expect us to lose 3000 /5000 in the next week if they don't get in under control. Bill Clinton made the big tree a national treasure when he was in office.
Keep your fingers crossed that we don't lose our beloved park, we lived up there when we were kids and my dad was a government backpacker,(horse back). Both my brothers worked there also, taking dude's to see the park.
My dad got blackballed from working on the packtrain because he threw Govenor Brown Sr. boose over the cliff and wouldn't let him use his packmule for it. After dad got down he was fired and we have laughed about it until we were silly, my dad was only 5 feet 6 with a great big attitude LOL. They then hired him back but not as government packer. He was to good and they knew it. He was a little bannie rooster, he took Loretta Young up and she was a doll. She came back to camp and cooked over the open fire with my mom.
Little bit of nostalgia going through my head this morning, my brother Jim and I talked about it the other day. Those were good times, I think its good sometimes to remember what was your happiest times in your life and they were such good times. If it was not you Becky, someone on the board told me they had been to Sequoia Park. I hope that you have your usual nice weekend with your lovely family and tell us about it next week. hugs

betty that is so neat you lived on that ranch and were able to see some of those actors.now those were actors, what great memories that you and bro must have, and yes its always fun to remember those days, seems the older i get the more i think of my younger days. did you think of the name of that actor yet,the one with the thin mustache? clark gable...? rumor was that loretta young had a baby from him. that baby is probably 80 today..LOL
lets see what did i do yesterday.i cooked but hey thats what i do everyday..made some bad ass oven fried chicken..oh my god..to die for...a recipe that i devised using fresh penzys spices,i know how you love penzys..arent they the best! and sis and i took off for burlington wisconsin, superwalmart. its a nice store in the middle of a nice wisconsin small city. i never used bottled sauce...but my son told me that is a very good sauce,barilla...if i didnt have all these "old folks" to cook for,LOL,i would use many short cuts, believe me.
do you like tuna? next time try adding some canned italian
Betty, no it was not me. Though I have been to CA and lived there for a little over 6 months when I first got married. John was stationed as Seal Beach. A wonderful 6 months in my life.
The nostalgia was fun to read and I too love to think back on the good times in my life.
Sorry about those darn fires again. It seems that they are never ending. Sure hope the park is saved and that General Sherman will survive too.
Becky they just have to have the fire stopped before it gets to the Sherman, its also in ash mountain also.
Seal Beach what a great town, have not been there for years. have a good evening, hugs
