Good afternoon y'all..........

Eldersis had her left hip replacement surgery this morning and was back in her room by 10 am!  We didn't see her before she went into  surgery, as our niece Judy who lives across the street, took her to the hospital for us.  She had to arrive at 6:30, and she said they didn't waste any time in getting started.  We stayed with her from 10 to 12, and left because she was beginning to look tired, and the spinal anesthesia that they gave her was beginning to wear off.  She's in room 109,  but won't be there very long.  It seems that the hospital stay is very short, 4 or 5 days!

We will try to go to see her tomorrow afternoon; we'll have to work around grocery shopping, Dr. appointment, and the gasoline shortage.  Luckily, we don't have to go many places, except for the Dr. visits which keep coming up.  We had a Dermatologist's appointment yesterday.  DH has a basal cell carcinoma on the top of his right ear, which will be removed next Tuesday with Mohs surgery.  The Dr. had done a 'punch biopsy' on my lesion, and said that the complete results were not back yet.  I'm afraid all of those ultra-violet light treatments that I received for my allergies when I was a little child are coming back to bite me.  The places on my arms look like actinic keratosis, which I've had before, but now there are so many of them.  The Dr. is Chinese, and even though he tried to keep a straight face,  I could tell that he seemed very concerned for some reason.  Oh well, time will tell.

I hope everyone will join me at the sink this afternoon.  I'm not proud, I'll tell you right now, I need some HUGS!

Amazing how quickly they do those surgeries. Now you all need to be vigilant about keeping germs away from her. I saw a piece on TV that suggested instead of flowers, you take a box of hand sanitizer wipes for VISITORS, as they bring in all kinds of germs, touch the bed rails, doors, glasses. Just imagine what kind of germs you pick up on the elevator up to her room! When DH had emergency stents put in, I stopped at the store on the way to the hospital and picked up some.

I also worry about what childhood treatments will come back to bite us oldsters. Seems like every time I turn around there's another warning about something I've either been doing for years or did a long time. Now I follow my DSs mantra - everything in moderation.

That hospital is really on top of the problem, she is so lucky to be there. So many are marginal.

sending hugs to all of you lottie!! im glad for eldersis that the surgery is over, may she have an uncomplicated quick recovery and therapy, and be home soon!! its nice that you have a niece in the family that helps out like that! i remember when i was a kid, there was this shoe store in our neighborhood that had an xray machine, and we would put our feet inside and he would make my mom look at the bone structure. i still cant figure out as what the value of that machine was. anyway, there was an article in the paper about that very same machine and the problems it is causing today. many prayers and hugs for your results to be negative!! you and dh take care. i ll be at the sink with cal..i made some delicious stuffed red peppers and spaghetti squash..we can share...hugs mindy

Unfortunately, you are correct about marginal sanitation in some hospitals.

Lottie, I'm glad that Eldersis had the surgery and sure hope the recuperation goes along well for her--and without any complications.
