Eldersis had her left hip replacement surgery this morning and was back in her room by 10 am!  We didn't see her before she went into  surgery, as our niece Judy who lives across the street, took her to the hospital for us.  She had to arrive at 6:30, and she said they didn't waste any time in getting started.  We stayed with her from 10 to 12, and left because she was beginning to look tired, and the spinal anesthesia that they gave her was beginning to wear off.  She's in room 109,  but won't be there very long.  It seems that the hospital stay is very short, 4 or 5 days!

We will try to go to see her tomorrow afternoon; we'll have to work around grocery shopping, Dr. appointment, and the gasoline shortage.  Luckily, we don't have to go many places, except for the Dr. visits which keep coming up.  We had a Dermatologist's appointment yesterday.  DH has a basal cell carcinoma on the top of his right ear, which will be removed next Tuesday with Mohs surgery.  The Dr. had done a 'punch biopsy' on my lesion, and said that the complete results were not back yet.  I'm afraid all of those ultra-violet light treatments that I received for my allergies when I was a little child are coming back to bite me.  The places on my arms look like actinic keratosis, which I've had before, but now there are so many of them.  The Dr. is Chinese, and even though he tried to keep a straight face,  I could tell that he seemed very concerned for some reason.  Oh well, time will tell.

I hope everyone will join me at the sink this afternoon.  I'm not proud, I'll tell you right now, I need some HUGS!

Yes, she will have to have PT, and she was hoping that they would send her to Warm Springs, which isn't too far away.

Please tell Eldersis she is in my thoughts and prayers. Those hip replacements do seem to go well.As we age it does take a little longer to heal.Hope she is good about doing the exercises they will be telling her to do.

That skin cancer can really keep you going. Most of it can be taken care of, which is a blessing. Pain though--

well, I'm off to listen to the debate-- martha
