Girls, I just sent out the report on Rosemary for today (Wednesday) and Maeler Daemon sent me a notice that all the addresses weren't acceptable. So, here I am, finally got on the board as short of time as I am, and will report Monday, Tuesday and Todays.

A little improvement again today with Mom's oxygen levels, now 35%. This is a long process of healing and we are trying to be patient, but really just want her better and back at home. I'm sure that's where she wants to be too. Kim
Mindy and everybody,
For some of the girls that can't get into Caring Bridge (it is kind of confusing) I have followed suit from Mindy and posted what I just read. Mindy, good idea, maybe between the two of us we can keep everybody up to date.

Last night the nurses discontinued Mom's sedation so that she can start to wake up. This morning Dad and I were amazed to see her trying to open her eyes when we spoke to her! She has been quiet for the rest of the morning, but should gradually become more aware as her system is cleared of the sedative. When she is more awake the doctors will see if it will be possible to remove the breathing tube. She is doing very well. Kim

Rosemary is now off of the sedation but is regaining consciousness very slowly. The nurse said that it may take a couple of days for her to become conscious. She does now and then flutter her eyelids and frown her forehead but she does not seem to know that we are there. Hopefully she'll wake up soon. It takes time for her liver to rid her system of all of the sedation, given that it is somewhat compromised by the cancer. Meanwhile she is breathing well, and the respirator is down to 30% supplied oxygen, with many breaths on her own. We are hopeful.
Nevertheless, you may have seen the headlines in the local papers that at least 6 patients in St.Peter's Hospital have come down with Legionaire's Disease. It seems that it was in the air conditioning system. Most of those infected were in the oncology unit, it seems. Rosemary entered the hospital on Friday, August 29th and stayed for a few days to get several scans for the large tumor on her hip and to receive a transfusion of red blood cells. It seems that she was exposed to Legionaire's Disease (legionella) on this visit. She collapsed at home on Tuesday, September 9th with the pneumonia caused by the legionella and has been at the hospital ever since. This event has caused major upheaval at the hospital, and they are certainly trying to treat her well now.
All of your thoughts and prayers are so appreciated.
Paul
