Rosemary is a bit more alert and responsive today. She clearly recognizes the doctors, nurses, Kim and me. She smiles, frowns, and nods a bit. Her oxygen supply is now down to 28% oxygen (almost just air), and the machine is now making her do almost all of the breathing herself. It's clearly tiring for her, since her chest muscle haven't had to work like this for over two weeks. They are trying to get her ready for the tubes to be removed.

Her rehabilitation is clearly going to be rather long, with lots of physical therapy. She doesn't yet move her fingers, toes, arms, or legs. So we have been reading to her a few of your comments and those on her many get-well cards. But this has to be done in great moderation, because she easily gets excited, begins breathing rapidly, and the bells begin ringing on her respirator.

Your comments and concern have been rather overwhelming and much appreciated.Love, Paul
