Rosemary on Sunday

Rosemary is more alert today and we have been reading some of your messages to her, which she has enjoyed very much. She also has listened to some of her CD music with earphones, which she says she very much likes. She also tells us that she would like to go home, but that is impossible at this point. Her lung infection now seems to be gone, and she is off of antibiotics. But her respirator and tubes cannot be removed at this point because her muscles are so weak that she can't breathe on her own.So the nurses are making her breathe for a few hours at a time, then turning the respirator back on to breathe for her so that she can rest. As soon as she is able to continually breathe on her own the tubes will be removed. She can now shrug her shoulders a bit, but moving her hands and feet seems still impossible. The restoration of strength in her limbs still seems several days away. Nevertheless it is so great to be able to communicate with her. She is very alert. Paul
